My husband is a HUGE football lover.  That guy considers his Sunday afternoons after church sacred as he watches football game after football game.

He really loves it and has taught my kids all about it and now they love it, too! When we first got married many moons ago, I had no idea what football was like, how it was played, what it had to do with, and what in the world you did with that ball.  I was so lost, I hated going to games with him and even more so, spending the afternoon on the couch watching it.

Well, my husband taught me all about the game, and now that I understand it, I am hooked.  I love watching the game with him, cheering on the good team, and booing the bad.  Well, with the Super Bowl around the corner, I thought I would surprise him with a really cool dip that I know he would like.

I put together the dip and then realized I could make it even better by shaping it and decorating it like a football.  Well, I tested it out this week and needless to say, it was delicious.  I am certain he is going to be surprised!

Have a savory, Mexican-style sandwich with slow-cooked pork for your next party or tailgate!  This Pulled Pork Cemita recipe is a nice twist on traditional pulled pork; make them with full-sized buns as a full sandwich, or use smaller buns to make them into bite-sized sliders.

The wonderful tailgate group that I am a part of often has all sorts of elaborate things to serve all of the hungry eaters that pass through, but as a warm-up, they’ll often have some small sandwiches or “sliders” to go with the basic snack food.  This pulled pork cemita recipe is great for that–and hey, after having fried salami, turkey and mayo, or something very basic like that for a while, you have a hankering for something a little different.  This will give your next barbecue, tailgate, or football party a little Mexican flair, and thanks to the convenience of the Crock-Pot (or whatever slow cooker you prefer), it’s not all that difficult to put together.

Fries are a very common side and appetizer, and for good reason.  These Buffalo Fries are a really nice twist on that classic, with a nice amount of heat to excite your palate, with just the right amount of blue cheese to cool you back down.  Since you can make them in under an hour, it’s a great idea for a party appetizer or a nice wake-you-up side for your next home-cooked meal!

Hey, I can’t knock simple.  I really love the simple sides and appetizers, sometimes.  I have certainly eaten plenty of good, old-fashioned French fries in my time, cooked the deep-fried way, and I have to admit that they go well with a lot of things.  But sometimes, you need to shake things up a bit, am I right?  I have to admit, I was a bit intrigued by the notion of fries that technically aren’t, well, fried.  And with that nice combination of heat and creamy coolness…well, let’s just say that my sense of curiosity was too piqued NOT to try these.  I’m glad that I did!

I Had to Slap Myself to Keep From Eating a Whole Plate of These

These Southern Beer-Battered Onion Rings are all kinds of deep-fried delicious!  They make for a great at-home snack. Deep-fried food may not be the healthiest in the world, to say the least, but it is hard to beat that rich, savory flavor.

The beer batter and seasoning really send this recipe over the top.  I whole-heartedly recommend it. And as long as you’re not eating deep-fried dishes every single day, you’ll be fine! These onion rings will make you everyone’s favorite chef at your next game night or a dinner party. And if you really want to make an impression? Make your favorite spicy dip to go with these! I promise you, they’ll be gone in minutes so make sure you grab some for yourself before it’s too late!

But you don’t have to worry even if they’re all gone. These are so easy to make, you can whip up another batch while your guests are waiting!

Love steak?  Love cheese?  Then you’ll love this Philly Cheese Steak Dip!  It has all of the great flavors of the classic original dish in convenient appetizer form.  I certainly can’t get enough of steak and cheese so this recipe is the perfect way to combine two of my very favorites. And it’s not nearly as difficult as you’d think!

I think that I have had some variant of the Philly cheese steak far more often than I have ever had the original dish.  It is great as part of a sub or other heavy sandwich.  It is great on pizza, too–great on a lot of things, really.  This recipe serves it up in extra-creamy dip form.  I loved how it came out, and so have my family and friends! I’ve been asked for this recipe so many times that I decided to print some out to have them at hand the next time someone asks for it!

I Could Eat This Stuff For Dinner!

This Wild Southwest Dip is great for parties, tailgating, or private snacking. It is incredibly easy to make, good for making in advance or eating right away, and makes for a nice alternative to the usual tomato-based salsas out there.

I must make a confession:  I do love a good dip. It is one of my guilty pleasures. When I get the chance to relax, I love savoring a flavorful dip with some chips while watching my favorite shows. (Watching ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars is another one of my guilty pleasures. I’m probably not part of the target age group, but since discovering the show through Netflix a couple of years ago, I just can’t get enough of the mystery and drama.) Now, though I am a big fan of tomato-based creations and nachos with generous amounts of beef, sometimes, I get a bit overloaded with that, and my palate and stomach get a hankering for something a little lighter–something smooth and creamy.

This dip is the perfect answer for that. I’m not sure that living in the rural Southwest would be the ideal spot for me (I rather like the small-town Southern life; it is a nice blend of urban and country, old-timey and modern), but I do love some of the flavors that that part of the country has cultivated and made so famous. Here you can have that nice Southwestern ranch flavor in gourmet snack form in practically no time and with little effort at all!
