What Are You Having For Dessert This Holiday Season?

If you like the fruits and spices of winter and autumn, this Pear Spice Cake is a good dessert to put on your menu.

It will fit in nicely with any holiday meal but is straightforward enough a recipe that you’ll have little trouble baking it anytime you like. I certainly can’t wait for the holidays to make this cake again! I’ve been known to bake this at least every other month. My husband always teases me by saying: “I see, it’s Christmas again!” And I guess it kind of is, because a slice of this amazing cake sure feels like Santa just came over!

I do like the spices of fall and winter, but sometimes, I do get a bit overloaded on apple- or pumpkin-based recipes. If you are like me and enjoy ginger, cinnamon, and even the occasional bit of nutmeg, but you are looking for something a bit different for a base, you really ought to try this pear spice cake!

This Chocolate Wacky Cake recipe may be, well, a bit wacky, but you’ll love how it turns out (and how easy and quick it is to make)! It also comes with a simple but very delicious chocolate icing.

I have to admit, when I saw the ingredient list, with vinegar and without any eggs (and without butter in the cake itself), I was a bit skeptical. And just 20 minutes to bake–crazy, right? Well, I’m still not 100% sure HOW it works, but it does work beautifully.

I can be a bit picky about my breakfast food. Though I settle for the absolute basics when I have to, I really prefer something rather hearty and a bit outside the norm that isn’t too difficult to foot the bill.  This Southwestern breakfast casserole fits the bill nicely.

This Slow Cooker Split Pea Soup is a simple but hearty meal that is great for the fall and winter months. You may not ever settle for the canned option again after trying this recipe!

Seasonal changes, even when welcomed, usually mean a bit of a cold for me. Particularly when I feel the autumn air creeping in and am feeling a bit under the weather, a warm, filling soup really hits the spot. I confess to eating the canned versions too many times, but since discovering so many of these easy recipes for my Crock-Pot, I don’t think that I could ever go back to that! The savory and smoky flavor of this split pea soup is a real winner.

This Apple Cinnamon Upside Down Cake is great for special occasions, particularly holiday meals, but it’s a straightforward enough recipe to make for a weekend family treat.

Weather cooling off means that I have started thinking about desserts with apples or pears and generous amounts of cinnamon. A lot of people automatically go for the apple pie option, and there’s nothing wrong with that, but that apple cinnamon flavor works wonderfully well in a cake, too!

This Cake Is Crazy – Like a Fox

This Crazy Banana Cake may be a bit out of the ordinary, but this originality pays off nicely – and you certainly don’t have to be a pro-level baker to put it all together! It’s a great idea for family gatherings and potlucks alike.

I do like to be a bit adventurous in my cooking and baking, but I have to admit, when I looked at the directions, I was a bit skeptical. This was the first time ever I had heard of such a way to bake a cake, and when I asked my friends, they hadn’t tried anything like this, either. I am glad that I took the plunge, though. This banana cake is delicious!

I’m pretty sure it’s these directions exactly that make this cake so wonderfully moist and soft! To make it even more perfect, there’s the icing… I could eat that thing with a spoon! Still, this cake is incredibly delightful even if you’re serving it as is, without the icing.
