What a great idea for any party or family gathering! I think, if I had been introduced to the great flavor of pumpkin this way, I would have warmed up to the idea of pumpkin-based desserts a lot sooner than I did. And hey, you only need half a dozen ingredients to make these festive, low-hassle treats. There is no doubt in my mind that I will be making these again. I brought these to my nextdoor neighbor’s daughter’s birthday party, and soon all the Moms were begging for the recipe!

Quick tip: Let the pumpkin puree dry on a cloth before adding it – this way you’ll make sure the treats won’t turn out too moist.

If you are looking for something festive to serve at a party or just want an extra-special treat for the little ones, this Candy Corn Layer Cake is an excellent choice. It’s filled with that sweet and buttery flavor of the original candy and topped off with a creamy chocolate frosting.

I don’t know about you, but Halloween is something of a big production at my home. Basically, we go all out on the orange and purple lighting, ghosts, skeletons, and cobwebs and have a haunted house for the month of October. I think that it’s a fun, safe way to let the inner child express itself–and something nice for the neighborhood kids to look at. With all of the spooky scenery, I enjoy having a festive sweet treat or two. This candy corn cake was the perfect thing for our Halloween party – but the kids immediately told me they are going to want this for every party now on…

If you’re like me and you couldn’t imagine your life without shrimp and cheese, you will LOVE this New England Shrimp Chowder!  And with the Cheddar Bay Biscuits and a simple salad, if you like, you have an easy full meal.  This would be a big hit at parties, but you could make it for dinner at home most any night of the week without too much trouble.

When I first came across this recipe, I thought, “What a great idea for Halloween, without the pumpkin overload!”  But there was no way that I could wait for something that looked so good.  I love my seafood dishes, and how could I pass up trying something so easy to put together? It turned out so delicious that it deserves a place in our dinner rotation!
