If Carrot Cake And Banana Bread Had A Baby, This Is What You’d Get

My mom makes a killer carrot cake. I mean, growing up we had Bible studies in our home weekly, and every single time my mom made carrot cake for our guests they raved about it for a long time! Everyone is always begging her to make it for dessert and so many people have asked her for the recipe. It is certainly a delicious treat that she makes really well. My mom is also amazing at making banana bread. It is marvelous what she can do with a few ripe bananas. They were always gone in no time when she made banana bread!

That got me thinking… what if I made a mixture of her amazing creations? You know, take a bit of banana bread, then layer it in a pan with carrot cake. Well, I tried it and guess what? Fail. The cakes baked at different speeds and just totally threw everything off. So then I got to thinking, what if I actually combined them both? So I did that. I practically made a batter of each, mixed it together and waited to see what would happen. The results were outstanding and well, let’s just say I’ll never make either of these cakes the traditional way again.

Every year, when Christmas time rolls around, we begin to do our yearly traditions. Some nights, that means we prepare hot chocolate and head out to see the lights around the neighborhood. Other nights, that means ordering pizza and watching a Christmas movie on the couch. And yet, other nights, it’s all about popcorn and making gingerbread houses.

We always buy those premade gingerbread houses where you just have to stick the walls together and glue. I was never interested in baking the actual walls because they would take too much work in my opinion. But, I realized as we were decorating this year, that I had never even tried the gingerbread. After it is baked, we spend the next few days picking at the candy and enjoying the chocolate and marshmallows on it. Yet, by the time we strip off the candy, we have given up and decide that it is time to just throw away the whole house. That is when I got the idea to make gingerbread cookies. I had never tried them (especially a fresh batch) but I knew they would be a hit because I love all cookies. And guess what? I was right. The cookies were nothing like the hard stuff that comes in the house kits!

This Stuff Just Melts In Your Mouth

I thought I already had the perfect glazed ham recipe. It was a very traditional one that I got from my aunt years ago – and I do still love it! But I wanted to find something tasty to go with the sandwiches I was planning to make for a get-together with friends, and luckily my mother told me she had just the right recipe for me. It looked way too delicious to pass! So I gave it a go, thinking I would still have time to cook another one with my aunt’s recipe if this turned out to be a disaster.

I think I was half way through cooking when I already realized I had hit the jackpot with this one. The whole house smelled so delicious I was afraid the neighbors would come knocking at the door, asking if they could have a taste of whatever it was I was cooking!

That glaze is just amazing and my husband said this is going straight to his all-time favorites. I’m glad he feels this way as it always feels good to receive a compliment from him, especially when it is about my cooking 🙂

Buttery, succulent, and melt in your mouth beef is the epitome of gustation.

After a long week of work, there is no better way to reward yourself than with a satisfyingly great meal. We all need to work to put food on the table, but don’t be too hard on yourself. Relax, unwind, and share this recipe with a loved one.

“We can all agree on a few things here: Great carne asada should taste, first, of the beef. It should be buttery, rich, and juicy, with a nice charred, smoky flavor from the grill or broiler. It should also be tender enough that you can eat it in a taco or burrito, but substantial enough to be served as a steak and eaten with a knife and fork. Finally, the marinade should have a good balance of flavors, with no single ingredient overwhelming any other. This recipe produces the carne asada of my childhood dreams.” -According to Kenji of SeriousEats.com

I ran across this great savory and sweet recipe and I just had to give it a try. These little smokies are a great tailgate or holiday appetizer – and once you have a taste, your world will never be the same again.

These little guys will make you want to eat a whole plate of them because of the contrast of the smokiness of the bacon and lil’ smokie compared to the sweetness of the brown sugar and the richness of the butter. They are sure to be a family favorite – and if you’re making these for a party, prepare to share the recipe with every single guest!

Let’s hear it from our friends over at Tasty Kitchen:

These were super easy to make and don’t take that long to cook. Made them for Harvest Party tonight and I put them in crock pot after they were cooked to keep warm. Everyone liked them. Will be making them again soon.
