You Cannot Lose With This Fantastic Recipe

I am looking forward to getting back to the usual, everyday dinner rotation after all these festive holiday meals! Don’t get me wrong; we all love a delicious, special dinner for Thanksgiving or Christmas, but after eating ham, smoked salmon, roast, red wine gravy and a gazillion different kinds of creamy salads for a few days in a row, you start missing the regular weeknight meals. Or at least that’s what’s happening to me.

I still have the New Year’s feast to deal with but I’m already planning for my first full week of soups, salads and casseroles. “Nothing special” sounds really special to me, at this point!

I asked my family what they would like for their first non-holiday meal and two out of three said meatloaf, so that’s what it’s going to be then! I have a really good recipe I’ve trusted for years – it’s from canarybird01 over at GardenWeb. My family is crazy about this recipe and I’ve shared it with so many people – now I wanted to share it with you, too!

I Can’t Pronounce The Name Of These Cookies But They Are DELISH

Many years ago I spent two weeks in Germany, traveling around the country with a group of friends. I know most people think of Oktoberfest when you mention you’ve been to Germany, but we weren’t there for the beer. To us, it was all about the food! I knew I liked German food, based on dishes I had enjoyed back home already – but when we were actually there, everything was even more delicious!

Somehow I had this thought in my mind that I would mostly be eating different kinds of sausages and really good bread. I wasn’t expecting to fall in love with German sweet treats, but I did. The pfeffernusse cookies!

I still don’t know how to pronounce it correctly but I can tell you these spice cookies are amazing. I think these are traditionally holiday cookies, but I’m planning on making these all year long. They’re way too tasty to be made once a year only!

So Yummy, You’ll Forget Your Manners

Now that we are in the middle of the Holiday season, I think it’s time to share some of my family’s favorite Thanksgiving and Christmas dishes.

This super scrumptious sweet potato casserole is definitely one of them – and it’s so tasty, I tend to make this year ’round (even though some people consider this Holiday food!) I really don’t care if something is traditionally a Christmas dish. If it’s delicious, I will make it any time of year!

What makes this sweet potato casserole extra special, is the splash of Grand Marnier (you could use Cointreau, if preferred). I think it really gives this side dish a very sophisticated touch, and makes it fancy enough for any occasion. The flavor is not too strong, no need to worry about that! And this dish definitely won’t make you tipsy.

This recipe makes eight servings – maybe six, if you like this as much as I do! It’s very easy to double, if you’re cooking for a crowd, and you’ll even get make-ahead directions for it.

This Casserole Is Sure To Be a Hit With Your Family And Friends

I am a Northerner, through and through, but I absolutely LOVE Southern food. I mean, I’d be in complete denial if I were to say that the Southern folks didn’t know how to cook.

From casseroles to amazing entrees our friends from the south were blessed with magical cooking hands. That is why I’m totally on board with giving this grits and greens casserole a shot. It looks unbelievably creamy and it has bacon in it. Score! I think it will make a wonderful addition to my holiday table.

The robustness of this recipe makes it a wonderful addition to any meal. It’s quite filling, so a little goes a long way. I’ve had great success dividing the dish before baking and then freezing it. Simply add the bacon and cheese when you’re ready to do the final baking. I always add a little more bacon when I make this dish (I’ve done 2 practice runs and each time the casserole comes out divine.) My husband and kids are big bacon and cheese eaters so they barely noticed the greens in this casserole. Yay!

If You Thought Meatloaf Isn’t Fancy Enough For Special Occasions – Try THIS One!

Growing up, my mom would make meatloaf at least once a week. My sisters and I always enjoyed having this meal and so did my dad.

She would make the meatloaf with mashed potatoes, green beans, and usually sliced up sharp cheddar cheese. My family was obsessed with brick cheese and the sharper the better. I always thought the cheese gave a nice zing to the meatloaf when eaten together. Anyway, I grew up eating mom’s basic meatloaf recipe that tasted like heaven on earth.

After I got married I started experimenting with making other forms and flavors of meatloaf. One time, I used ground turkey instead of ground beef. It made the loaf of meat taste very gamey. I won’t be doing that again lol! Recently, I came across a recipe for applesauce meatloaf on Facebook and new in my heart that it was going to be a winner. And guess what? I was right!

This Classic Recipe Never Goes Out Of Style!

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all doing great and having fun trying out new recipes! I sure am, and that’s why I decided to introduce you to my latest favorite.

Just recently I came across this wonderful crab cake recipe and I just knew they were going to be a hit! It took me a few days to find the time to make these, and I swear just looking at that picture and thinking about making them, made my mouth water.

I think my husband got a little tired of me going on and on about these crab cakes because one day he said; “Honey, today I’m taking care of everything for you. I’ll do the laundry, walk the dogs and go grocery shopping – so could you please just make those crab cakes before you’ll go crazy?” Haha, bless him! He really did do all those things for me, so I had plenty of time to try making these. Not that I really needed that much extra time for these – 25 minutes was all I needed!
