Have you ever been in the mood for something new?

I was feeling that way the other day. I’ve been baking a lot and have thus far made cookies, pies, cakes, and rice Krispie treats. Everything I’ve made has been very good but also very common for this time of year.

So, when I ran across this sweet potato cake recipe I got really intrigued! I had never heard of sweet potato cake before, only pie. You would not believe how moist this dense cake turned out. It was like Thanksgiving had come early when I sank my teeth into the first bite.

And guess what? This sweet potato cake is not hard to make at all. In fact, it was one of the easier cakes that I’ve made in my day. I took a few slices over to my husband’s grandparents and they absolutely loved the cake.

At first, they thought I had made a pumpkin cake but when they learned it was sweet potato they were so surprised! This sweet potato cake is going on my Thanksgiving menu for sure. Enjoy!

What goes great with your morning cup of coffee? COFFEE CAKE! Seriously, never says morning pick-me-up like a steaming cup of Joe and a slice of sweet blueberry buttercream coffee cake. This recipe calls for fresh blueberries, so don’t worry, you’re still meeting your nutritional needs. “wink”

I love making this coffee cake and serving it to houseguests. It’s always a major hit in the mornings. However, feel free to serve up this delightful cake at any time. It goes perfectly with your afternoon tea or as an after dinner dessert. The creamy buttercream frosting is my absolute favorite part of this cake. It’s so soft, rich, and heavenly. We have a feeling you might just serve yourself a second slice.

Quick Tip: If you plan on taking this cake to an event, make it a day ahead but don’t put the blueberries on until right before you leave to keep their color from bleeding all over the frosting. Presentation is everything 🙂

It seems there’s a holiday for everything these days, and this week is a celebration of chocolate cake.  And really, who needs more of a reason than that for a slice of delectable dessert heaven?

This recipe serves 8 people and is ready in 90 minutes.  This dessert is pretty rich, so it’s best to serve it after a lighter meal.  Either way, you’ll never have a problem getting rid of this dish.

This Cake Really Is a Dream!

This Vanilla Dream Cake is sure to be a winner at any gathering. A little assembly is required, but with prep, baking, and assembly time all adding up to about an hour and a half, it’s not super-complicated and not any all-day labor of love.

I love a good chocolate-based dessert now and then, but I must confess that I love a rich vanilla flavor as much as I love chocolate. I don’t know if that puts me in a minority or if I am just not that picky about what flavors that I will try, but I don’t believe that a vanilla-based recipe has to be boring. Done right, vanilla actually can be rather exciting. This vanilla dream cake really lives up to its name!

My husband is not a fan of cakes (I know, there’s something profoundly wrong with him…) but this cake here is an exception. I swear he could eat half of it in one go – and the other half a couple of hours later! This is definitely a cake that will please even the pickiest of cake eaters!
