These savory flavors will make your mouth water.

My father was very old-school when it came to food. He didn’t think much of all the modern dishes, let alone exotic flavors from different cultures.

Instead, he was a big fan of everything you could describe old-fashioned, comforting, Southern and familiar. And I completely understand why. It’s these dishes that brought up so many of us – they’re filled with flavors of home and love, they’re easy to make and will not break the bank if you happen to be saving your money for something special.

This fried cabbage meal was once of my Dad’s all-time favorites. I swear, he could have eaten this seven days a week and still crave for it the next day! This is what my mother always made when he had had a rough day at work, and it always made him smile.

I’m so glad my children have grown to love this dish, too. It is one of our dinner rotation staples, and I’d like to keep it that way! Will this fried cabbage meal be in your dinner rotation, too?

This tasty casserole takes you straight back to the countryside.

I grew up on a small farm. I think I was a little spoiled – almost all of our food was homegrown, and I learned to appreciate meals that were made from scratch.

Back then you certainly weren’t able to make a lot of money with such a small farm. Well, you probably still aren’t. But our life was rich in other ways, and I consider it a luxury that my mother was there to cook all our meals, bake our own bread and take care of us kids and making sure we learn to understand where food comes from.

This cheesy onion and bread casserole was one of my father’s favorites. Mom would make this from stale bread (that she had, of course, baked herself) and onions that were grown in our backyard garden.

It’s such a simple casserole and you wouldn’t think much of it just by looking at the ingredients, but the flavor is outstanding! This is a staple in my family’s dinner routine now, and my kids love hearing the story behind it.

You May Not Need An Entree When You’re Serving These Awesome Green Beans

I don’t care too much for complicated side dishes. It seems to me these days I’m happy if I have enough time to make a proper entree, so a side dish to me is usually a bunch of plum tomatoes, each cut in half.

I guess that’s why I love green beans so much. It really doesn’t get much easier than that! We’ve had them pretty often lately, not just because they’re tasty and good for you, but also because you can whip them up in no time. My husband was getting a little tired of them… so I had to figure out a way to amp them up without turning them into one of those complicated side dishes I try to avoid.

This recipe is perfect! You really don’t have to do much else than fry the sliced onion and you’re almost done. You heard me! Then you just sit back for a few minutes, with your glass of wine, while the green beans are cooking. Now, that’s my kinda recipe!

If This Doesn’t Make You Go For Seconds, There’s Something Wrong With Your Taste Buds

My sister has a big garden – well, some might even call it gigantic. She and her family love growing their own vegetables but at some point they got a little carried away! Before we knew it they were growing enough veggies for all their loved ones, too, and after a while they started selling some of the excess to friends and neighbors. It is a win-win situation for everyone; they really love what they’re doing, they get a bit of extra income for it – and the rest of us get to enjoy super scrumptious veggies!

You really can tell the difference between high quality, homegrown vegetables and the overproduced ones you get from the grocery store. My picky eaters wouldn’t eat anything with veggies, but when my sister started bringing them in, everything changed.

We really enjoy making vegetables dishes now! This veggie casserole is one of our favorites. It’s actually a side dish but it’s so tasty that we often serve it as the main dish! I guarantee your whole family will love this casserole and it will become a staple in your dinner routine!

Quick Tip: If you’re adding more vegetables and especially if you’re using a deep oven dish rather than a shallow one, you can also add a little bit of cream.

The Way To A Man’s Heart? This Recipe, Right Here

Here’s a one pot meal ya’ll are going to love! I always enjoy stews like this – first of all, because they’re so extremely tasty. And second, because the cleanup is a breeze!

I honestly think it’s a blessing for everyone when you don’t have to bring out all your pots and pans to feed your family. As you let all of the ingredients simmer together in one dish, it makes the flavors even more delightful and you won’t need to add anything fancy. In fact, you’ll probably have most of these ingredients at hand, right now!

This stew is a great way to add some veggies into your picky eater’s diet. My little one does not like celery at all, but he never complains when I serve this for dinner. I honestly think all the flavors have combined so nicely that he doesn’t even realize there’s celery in it! But, of course, you could omit that if you’re not a fan.

Every Home Cook Needs A Tasty Pasta Salad Recipe

You know what I can’t live without? A good salad that goes with any and all BBQ entree! It doesn’t really matter what kind of a salad it is, as long as it’s the tastiest one of its kind.

For a long time my favorite used to be a mayonnaise-based macaroni salad that was always served at our family reunions. It was my cousin’s recipe and she must have copied it dozens of times, to give to everyone in the family. I still do love that salad, but now that I’m getting a little older it seems that all those mayo-calories are going straight to my thighs…

So I decided it was time to  find a new favorite that would be a little leaner. I had my doubts about the flavor, though. You know how it is; sometimes the light, lean and low-calorie options aren’t exactly very tasty.

But this salad is totally scrumptious! No mayonnaise or other fatty ingredients – and you could make this even healthier by using whole-grain pasta. If you choose gluten-free pasta, you can serve this to friends and family with gluten intolerance.

Argo cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, barilla pasta, Bertolli extra-virgin olive oil, black pepper, Bob's Red Mill, Borden, brown sugar, Campbell’s soups, casserole, Chiquita, chocolate, Clabber Girl, College Inn, Cool Whip, copycat Reese's peanut butter cups, crock pot, Daisy sour cream, dessert, Dole, domino brown sugar, domino sugar, eat, Eggland's Best eggs, food, Gold Medal flour, granulated sugar, Green Giant, Hershey, Hodgkin’s Mill, homemade Reese's peanut butter cups, Jell-O, Jif peanut butter, Johnsonville, keebler, kosher salt, Kraft, land o lakes butter, land o lakes unsalted butter, Libby, McCormick spices, Morton salt, Pam Cooking Spray, Pepperidge Farm, Philadelphia cream cheese, Powdered sugar, recipe, Ritz crackers, Sara Lee, Sargento, slow cooker, Smooth Peanut Butter, Thorn Apple Valley, Toll House, TruMoo milk, tyson, vanilla, vanilla extract, Vlasic, Wesson vegetable oil, whipped topping

Try One Of These And There’s No Going Back To Store-Bought

I don’t think I know anyone who doesn’t like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Seriously – it is a treat you can serve to any and all of your guests, and they will happily go for seconds.

Unless, of course, they happen to be allergic to peanuts. Oh, the misery! I couldn’t even imagine such a nightmare. My heart goes out to all of you who have such an unfortunate food restriction. I think I would rather give up pasta for the rest of my life, than give up these delish treats – and that’s a lot coming from a person who LOVES pasta.

However, if you’re not on a special diet and you’re as crazy about these yummy little things as I am, this recipe is going to make you super happy. I make these at least twice a month, and I would make them twice a week but I’d be getting too many objections from my favorite pair of jeans.

The best thing about making these at home is that you know exactly what you’re putting into these. I love using organic ingredients, and these days it’s possible to find lactose free butter and chocolate for those who don’t do well with lactose! Thank heavens!
