My Holidays Won’t Be The Same Without This Homemade Special Butter

I remember when I was little, my grandmother used to tell me how they made their own butter instead of just getting it from a grocery store, like we do now. I thought it was so fascinating – for a little girl it was such a mind-blowing thing to hear you could make butter yourself! Grandma used to make her homemade butter every now and then, and I always thought it was amazing. I probably could have eaten it with a spoon, if no-one was watching…

All those decades ago my grandparents had a special, handmade tool just to make butter. So I guess it never occurred to me you could make it with one of the most common household items ever; a mason jar!

That’s right, you only need a mason jar for this, so it’s a fun activity to do with your kids, also. This recipe from Erin, over at Making Memories With Your Kids, is for a special cinnamon-sugar butter – and I have to say it’s so delicious, just talking about it makes my mouth water!

I Want To Skip Lunch And Just Eat This For The Next Three Days

Chocolate cake has always been my go-to dessert. When I’m craving chocolate, nothing hits the spot quite like a rich chocolate cake does. Usually, I’ll pour myself a tall glass of ice cold milk, place my slice of dessert on a pretty plate, and prepare to indulge. Mmmm, so good! Rich, decadent chocolate cake tastes amazing no matter the time of day, week, or year.

It doesn’t have to be your birthday in order to bake up a chocolate cake. Feel free to reward yourself for all the hard work you do on a daily basis. You’re worth a little slice of heaven from time to time! If you make this cake to share, you’ll be known as the “Baking Queen” of the neighborhood. Now, who doesn’t want a title like that?

This chocolate cherry cake has quickly become one of my favorites. It is super easy to make, and it turns out so amazing you always wish you had made a double batch!

You May Not Need An Entree When You’re Serving These

If there is one thing that I enjoy most about Thanksgiving dinner it would have to be the sweet potato casserole. When I was growing up my mom didn’t just set out a pot of sweet potatoes with a bit of butter and brown sugar on them. Nope. She blended it all up into a creamy mess and baked it in the oven until we had a glorious sweet potato casserole. My favorite! My mother would use lots of brown sugar and butter and her sweet potato casserole always came out divine.

I’ve used my mother’s recipe for every Thanksgiving meal, but last year I decided to try something a little different for a change. I still wanted that wonderful sweet potato flavor, but I was hoping to modernize the dish a little bit. When I came across this recipe on Facebook, I immediately knew this was it!

This is probably considered an appetizer but I made a huge batch of these and served them as a side dish, instead of the traditional sweet potato casserole. My family loved these! They disappeared in minutes and people were hoping there were leftovers, to munch on later at night!

This gorgeous tart is more than pretty to look at, it’s delicious.

I could hardly wait to cut into it. Then I was careful to follow directions using a butter knife and running it under hot water before each cut. The result was a lovely-looking professional tart with orange and brown swirls throughout. It was the perfect fall treat!

I actually lucked out because my son’s favorite color is brown, my daughter’s is orange and my husband is a Cleveland Browns fan. Now that I think of it, this would be perfect for a game day snack! It’s indulgent but not too rich. I love pumpkin flavors anyway, so anything pumpkin is good in my book. Tis’ the season my friends! Stock up on cans of pumpkin, and don’t forget to cook down your Halloween pumpkins, too! My mom used to do that and make her Thanksgiving day pies from it. Yummy!

I can’t even imagine anyone not loving salted caramel.

It is so deliciously sweet and the salt just enhances the flavor believe it or not. I remember the first time I heard of the flavor I thought, what? Why on earth would someone put salt on caramel? Little did I know that it is the perfect sprinkle for on caramels, EVER! I indulge in salted caramel goodies all fall season long, until they are discontinued until the next year. Salted caramel ice cream, coffee, cookies and more are offered at the onset of fall and usually disappear in the spring. The good news is that you can always make something from scratch like these super easy crescents that not only are drizzled with this amazing flavor but capture the essence of pecan pie!

That’s right, there are pecans too! If this isn’t a southern dream I don’t know what is!

If anyone says they don’t like pumpkin spice, there’s something seriously the matter with them.

This flavor is to die for. It’s soothing and warms you up, but lightly satisfying. Those spices are undeniably fall and I get so excited every time the season rolls around to try the different things offered everywhere that are pumpkin spice-laden. This oatmeal is a new one for me, and I am already in love with it! The best thing about this is that I already love oatmeal on a chilly morning. It’s the perfect start to the day, as it’s so versatile for ingredients. You can add anything in there from dried fruit to syrup and honey, to nuts and seeds and so much more.

Making it pumpkin flavor adds a whole new dimension to what we can do. I even topped mine with a squirt of Reddi Whip, because why not?

I love the fall season because all of the pumpkin flavored foods and scents come out of the woodwork or is it the pumpkin patch?

Whatever. I am going to share an amazing recipe for pumpkin cream pie with you all today and I know you are going to love it just as much as I do. It truly is amazing! Plus, it’s one of those decadent recipes that is incredibly easy to make. My husband wanted me to tell you all that he is not a lover of the pumpkin spice craze that hits the world during the fall months, however, this pie was right up his ally. He said it was one of the best pies he had ever eaten. Wow! Now, that’s an amazing compliment! I love making my family yummy treats that they simply adore.
