Everyone Is a Morning Person When You’re Serving These For Breakfast!

My niece and nephew were coming to stay the weekend at our house. With my two kids that are the same age, it was going to be a busy time.

I know how they get when they are all together. It kind of makes me feel like I’m at the zoo. That goes for the way they act, and how much they eat! My kids eat fairly normally I think, but then you add two more to the mix, and people aren’t all hungry at the same time, until the other one is… it’s never ending. I actually have to tell them that the kitchen is closed at times or I don’t think that the fridge door would ever be shut.

Before they came, I decided that I was going to plan out the menu to ensure that I had a nice and hearty meal in them at the appropriate times. That would hopefully cut down on some of the snacking. For breakfast one day, we were going to be having three cheese breakfast wheels.

I had asked my friend for the recipe and it sounded delicious and pretty easy to make. I know how much kids love cheese, so I knew that they were going to go crazy over this for their morning meal.

Quick Tip: Make a double batch and freeze the other one – you’ll have a quick snack ready whenever you need one!

Guys and gals, you HAVE got to try this amazing cheeseburger pie recipe. It is named perfectly because Wimpy would have turned in his hamburgers and began obsessing over this pie-form of cheeseburgery delight, guaranteed. It tastes exactly like a cheeseburger. Load yours up with onions, pickles, mustard, and ketchup for an awesome meal. The crescent roll crust gives this pie the appeal that you’re actually noshing on a burger bun. So tasty! My kids and husband absolutely devoured this cheeseburger pie.

I served this cheeseburger pie with a tossed salad and ranch dressing. You can’t go wrong with that! It is safe to say that this recipe is a keeper.

I remember the first time I made this dish. It was a Saturday afternoon. My husband was working in the yard and the kids were in their rooms. A few minutes after the dumplings went in the stove, the house was filled with the sweetest smell. It smelled like my grandma’s house on a Sunday afternoon.

Needless to say that before I could finish dinner there were several people in the kitchen asking what that delicious smell. There were no leftovers that night! Since then they’ve been a family favorite.

baking powder, baking soda, Bertolli extra-virgin olive oil, black pepper, Bob's Red Mill, brown sugar, cinnamon, Clabber Girl, domino sugar, eat, Eggland's Best eggs, food, Gala apple, Gold Medal flour, Granny Smith apple, Johnsonville, kosher salt, Kraft, land o lakes butter, McCormick spices, Morton salt, Mountain Dew soda, Pillsbury crescent rolls, recipe, southern apple dumplings, TruMoo milk, vanilla extract, Wesson vegetable oil

As a young girl growing up on my grandma’s farm, I used to love the sweet smell of southern apple dumplings wafting through the kitchen window as I played outside on my tire swing. Oh, the memories! Nothing beat grandma’s apple dumplings. Now that I’m grown, I’ve made apple dumplings for my little ones, but with one slight variation…

Mountain Dew.

Now, I’m not a huge fan of drinking this super sweet soda, but I have found that using it in my grandma’s apple dumpling recipe is like heaven on earth. I found a recipe that is quite similar to grandma’s with the addition of this citrus soda Faithtap.com, and boy, am I glad that I did! You’ll definitely want to give this version of southern apple dumplings a shot.
