When my son had his first sports banquet in middle school, I was so proud of him.

He had a wonderful year in football, and their team walked off the field undefeated. They had a lot to celebrate that season. All the parents decided that instead of doing pizza or hot dogs like they normally did, that we would put a little effort in and make a potluck meal for the boys to feast on. I was assigned the category of meat, so I knew I had a big job in front of me.

I was thinking large scale for a while until the idea of meatballs popped into my head. Everyone loves meatballs, and I had just the recipe. I had seen a French onion recipe on Facebook and figured it would be perfect for such an occasion. It was simple, quick, and there weren’t a lot of ingredients or steps required to get the job done.

I bought double the ingredients and tossed this together a couple hours before heading in. Transporting them in the crock pot was definitely the way to go. By the time the awards were all handed out, the pot was empty!

A non-alcoholic rum cake that even the kids can enjoy.

I don’t know how many times I’ve run into folks who have forgone making a delicious rum cake because they thought there would be booze in it that would intoxicate their children. Folks, when cooking with rum (or any alcohol) all of the alcohol is “burnt off” when heated.

Now that we’ve got that little piece of health info cleared up this cake doesn’t contain real rum anyway. You will be using an extract. However, if you want to sue real rum you most certainly can.

I’m super excited that I came across this recipe over on the Gercakes Blog! If you’d like to get the details on how to make this wonderful recipe please hop on over to the next page for a complete list of ingredients and instructions. Enjoy!

A chocolate cake that’s easy to make!

When I was a little girl my mom and dad would designate summer Sunday afternoons as ice cream sundae day. We would get bowls of vanilla ice cream and mom would set out all kinds of goodies to top it with. Chocolate syrup was always my favorite item.

As I made this chocolate syrup cake I was reminded of those wonderful childhood memories with my parents and siblings. Such good times! I think you’ll really enjoy making this cake as it’s super easy and it tastes great.

A sweet loaf of lemony goodness that’ll sweep your senses of their feet.

This cake is absolutely amazing. it’s super moist and very dense. I could eat this cake for breakfast, actually. And guess what? Maybe I did 🙂 I’ll never tell but if you ask my kids they’ll be sure to shout from the rooftops that mama let them have lemon cake for breakfast.

Oh well, they each had a cup of warm milk with their cake so it’s all good. Anyway, you’ll find that making this cake is super easy. I love to whip up a lemon loaf like this for church potlucks and gatherings. Everyone always loves it.

The answer is, you can’t. Seriously, if you happen to be one of those folks who mysteriously can you must either have magical powers or be a Scrooge. Just the smell of these yummy pumpkin spice oatmeal cookies is enough to put even Jillian Michaels over the edge.

I love holiday baking with my family and these yummy cookies are at the top of this year’s list. I think we shall bake them for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. My husband and kiddos said that these cookies were seriously yummy…even if they had oatmeal in them 🙂

Your Holiday Parties Deserve An Excellent Appetizer

Have you all made plans for the holiday menu yet? I think I started mine in February… I love the holidays, and I enjoy spending time around the dinner table, with the most important people of my life. We have plenty of extended family coming over and usually everyone brings a little something to add to the table.

This recipe is something I’ve wanted to try for ages, but somehow I’ve always managed to forget the whole thing when I actually would have had the chance to make it. This year, I ran into it again and I made a note of it in my calendar, to make it for the holidays!

Obviously, I had to make a batch for testing purposes… Spinach and artichoke dip has always been one of my favorite appetizers, but what I don’t love about serving dips for a large crowd is that it tends to get a little messy. Everyone is getting a spoonful on their plate, accidentally dropping some on the table cloth, and by the end of the night people are just scooping it out straight from the bowl with chips and crackers.

I Made These For Friends And Family Last Year And They Were a Huge Hit!

The end of last year was a little crazy for me and I felt bad for not being able to make a bunch of homemade gifts for everyone in my family. It’s not like I had to do it, but making gifts is the one thing that always puts me on the perfect holiday mood, and it’s such a wonderful feeling when you see how much your friends and family appreciate it.

At the very last minute I decided to search for crazy easy gift ideas, and that’s when the words “cookie mix in a jar” popped up on Facebook. I knew that was it! So I asked around and got this brilliant recipe from my friend.

I had almost all of the ingredients at hand, so I just picked up some mason jars and chocolate chips, and I was ready to go. I printed out the instructions on how to bake the cookies, filled the jars, decorated with pretty ribbons and I think I was all done in less than an hour. Pretty awesome, if you ask me!
