This meal is easy on your wallet! This fried cabbage with sausage makes a super tasty weeknight dinner. You can always adjust the seasonings according to your taste. If you want something a little spicier, go with red pepper flakes and a touch of hot sauce.
If you like Indian food, why not add some curry powder!
I like using spicy Italian sausage for this meal, but basically you could use any kind of sausage or ground meat. Of course, it is super easy to turn this into a veggie meal – just leave the meat out completely.
Ingredients
1 lb Italian sausage (or ground beef)
1 small head of cabbage, chopped
2 yellow onions, thinly sliced
2 carrots, grated
Your favorite seasonings: salt, pepper, garlic, basil, oregano, thyme, etc
Instructions
Brown the chopped sausage or ground beef in a large skillet, season to taste.
When almost completely browned, add the sliced onions and grated carrots. Feel free to add other sliced vegetables of your choice.
When the onions and carrots are starting to soften, add the cabbage. Add more seasonings as you go.
Cook about 10 more minutes, stirring often until cabbage starts to soften. Serve with salsa or sour cream.
