Growing up in Michigan, I had honestly never heard of a baked apple.
Now, I’m not saying the folks up there don’t eat baked apples, but it certainly wasn’t a staple at anyone’s house that I’d ever been to. Once I met my husband and we moved to his home state of Pennsylvania, it became baked apple mania. That rhymes, haha! People here are crazy for baked apples. It’s definitely a favorite fall-time treat.
The first time I had one was at my husband’s aunt’s house during Thanksgiving dinner. It was so tender and sweet!
There are a ton of fall festivals in Pennsylvania and every single one of them hosts multiple baked apple stands. Each vendor personalizes their recipe a bit so that it stands out from the others. I like them all 🙂

Quick Tip: If you don’t have a slow cooker, feel free to bake your apples in the oven.
