Everyone I Know Is Crazy About This Fantastic Cake!

The older I get, the faster the years seem to fly by. It’s hard to believe we only have a couple of days of this year left – even though it seems like it was just a couple of months ago that I was shouting “Happy New Year!” It seems, when you’re young, you can’t wait to grow up as fast as possible. And when you’re getting old, you wish you could go back to being a kid again. Haha!

When it comes to New Year’s resolutions, I’ve decided not to waste a moment of my life anymore. What that means to me is that I will try and spend my time doing what I think is important, instead of spending those precious hours and days on things that don’t matter to me.

Ok, well maybe baking cakes isn’t that big of an issue for me but I still don’t want to spend too much time making them. That’s why I love recipes like this one from TheCulinarycorner! Very basic ingredients, very little preparation, yet a very awesome result!

Because No-One Likes To Clean Up After Dinner

I’m having a super tight schedule today! I won’t bore you with the details but let’s just say I got up at 5am and I probably won’t be going to bed until midnight, so yeah, busy is the word. Somewhere in between all the craziness I’m supposed to cook dinner for my family – I could just go for takeout but it always makes me feel so guilty!

Instead, I’m going to make one of my favorite, super quick, one pan meals. What I dislike even more than really complicated and time consuming recipes, is the massive clean-up after dinner. So I’ve collected quite an impressive amount of simple recipes that don’t make a mess.

This roasted chicken and vegetables recipe is also a pretty inexpensive one! I often buy a huge batch of chicken thighs when they’re on sale, and then freeze them for later. Then just thaw them in the refrigerator overnight and they are ready to be cooked for dinner the next day.

This combo of cranberry and lemon is super light and refreshing… and unlike anything, I’ve had in the past.

A delight for my sweet tooth! Yay! I love delighting my sweet tooth, how about you?

This cake has easily become one of my favorite holiday desserts. Of course, you don’t have to solely save it for the holidays. Feel free to make it at any time of the year that you want.

My husband kids even like it and they are partial to chocolate and peanut butter desserts if that tells you anything. You’ll be surprised how easy this cranberry and lemon cake is to make and the crumble topping is very simple to construct. You certainly do not want this cake to be without the crumble topping because it is ding dang dandy!

You May Want To Keep The Whole Pie To Yourself

Have you ever heard of chess pie? No, it’s not a pie crust filled with Velveeta or slices of waxy cheese.

It’s a heavenly dish filled with fluffy mixed eggs, sugar, milk, flour, and cornmeal. I also said “chess” not “cheese” hehehe! This pie is truly something special and you gotta try it as soon as possible. In my opinion, chess pie is a checkmate! Even my children liked it and they typically do not care for new things. When I said “chess pie” to them my youngest replied, “checkers?” LOL!

One of the greatest things about this chess pie is how easy it is to make. You simply whip the ingredients together and bake it in the oven for x-amount of time and there you have it! Total yumminess! I am in love with this pie and will continue to make it time and time again. Are you ready to make my favorite recipe? Let’s get to it!

Be Prepared for The Oooh’s And Aahh’s When You Serve This Stupendous Cake!

Anyone else here who is as crazy about lemons as I am? Aside from my family members, I’ve only met one person who enjoys this tangy citrus fruit as much as I do. Ice cream, cake, dessert fluff, anything lemon will do! When it’s lemon season and I can get my hands on incredibly juicy fresh lemons, I go a little crazy. My family says I look like a slot machine, with lemons rolling in my eyes, haha!

The thing is, my husband and I always bring home lemons from the grocery store, without knowing if the other one has already done so. Which means, we are having this cake at least every other week! It’s my favorite way of using all those lemons – the cake itself is super delicious, but that fresh lemon glaze? Totally out of this world!

This is a recipe that probably hasn’t change a bit in decades, and I really hope it stays that way, too. Why fix something that isn’t broken, right? I remember my grandmother making this wonderful cake when I was just a little girl, and my mother still makes this, too.

You’ll Throw This Together In No Time And Gobble It Up Even Faster!

People who know me and my mother usually say we have nothing in common. I think it’s pretty funny; my sister is like a copy of my mother in every way, and I guess I am more like my father. If nothing else, I do have this one thing in common with Mom! It was super important for her that she always served dessert when we were kids, even if it was just a simple weeknight meal.

She said a meal wasn’t complete unless there was at least some kind of dessert – it didn’t really matter what it was. Sometimes it was rice pudding, a simple sponge cake, or maybe just fresh fruits with a dollop of whipped cream, but she wanted to have something.

I am the same way; even if it’s a crazy day and I only have enough time to heat up some leftovers for dinner, there’s gotta be dessert! Over the years I’ve collected an impressive amount of super simple dessert recipes, but that doesn’t mean they’re plain in any way. Only the most delicious ones get my approval and will be added to our dessert rotation!

Have You Tried Making These Yet? You Really Should!

I am running out of excuses to skip a proper breakfast… I’ve been using lack of time as an excuse for a while now, but lately I’ve tried so many wonderful, easy and super fast breakfast recipes that I kind of feel silly saying “I just don’t have the time”. Sure – a slow cooker helps a great deal if you’re busy in the mornings, but there are other ways to prepare a quick, awesome breakfast, too.

German pancakes are incredibly simple to make and they taste so amazing, I could have them every single day of the week! You only need a few minutes to whip this up, and you can go on and get ready while it’s baking in the oven.

This oven pancake is delicious and the kids are crazy about it! If they could have their way, we would have this year ’round, every day. If you’re in a hurry, a dusting of powdered sugar on top will do. But you could turn this into a really fancy breakfast just by slicing some bananas and drizzling chocolate sauce on top!
