Chicken broccoli casserole is my new go-to meal.

My 6th grader son is a happy homeschooler. I like to tear him away from the textbooks from time to time and get him working with his hands. This usually consists of things outdoors. However, it was raining the other day so I had him working in the kitchen. My son wanted to make supper for the family and boy, did he ever do a great job! He made cheesy chicken broccoli casserole that turned out amazing!

I never knew my 12-year-old boy was such a great cook. perhaps, I’ll have him making dinner more often. Or, at least this chicken broccoli casserole!

The other day I got a phone call from my dad. He told me that lately, mom has been making some very different recipes. I asked him if they tasted good and he said that they were amazing! I kind of chuckled and asked him what the problem was then. He told me there wasn’t a problem and then proceeded to go into detail about the Hawaiian sandwich spread he found in his work lunchbox. My dad said he decided to investigate where all these new recipes were coming from and hopped on mom’s computer. Apparently, she is a moderator of a ladies recipe Facebook group!

This soup is perfect for when the weather starts to get colder.

As we get deeper into the month of September the temperature gauge just keeps going down and down. The weatherman’s forecast doesn’t contain anymore 80 degree days. Boo! Truthfully, it isn’t all that bad as I’m a huge lover of the fall as it is my favorite season.

I love fall because of the changing colors of the leaves, cool air, and great food. It is the time of year when I always start making plenty of soups and stews instead of the usual casseroles. This creamy vegetable soup will keep you warm and fill you up!

When I first made this soup the one thing I noticed the most was how great it smelled while it cooked. It left a heavenly aroma throughout my entire house. When my kids came home from school they were met with this aroma and promptly asked me when dinner would be ready. Music to my ears!

We all remember our favorite childhood food.
