Clabber Girl, Clabber Girl baking soda, Daisy, dessert, Dole, domino sugar, eat, egglands best, eggs, Flour, food, Gold Medal, Hellman, Jiff peanut butter, Kraft, Land O Lakes, McCormick, Morton, Powdered sugar, recipe, sheet cake, TruMoo, vanilla, Wesson

When you’re looking for a dessert that will really stick to your ribs (and to the roof of your mouth), this peanut butter sheet cake is the ticket! Nothing can compare to the glorious texture and taste of a moist cake smothered in creamy peanut butter frosting. Beware, when you are mixing up the batter every man, woman, and child around you is going to be vying for the lucky winner spot of  the official “bowl licker.” There really isn’t anything bad about this recipe.

The cake always comes out amazingly moist and the frosting is to die for. I’ve made this cake for my Great Uncle’s birthday almost every year since I’ve been able to bake as he absolutely loves it, and so does everyone else. If chocolate cake and peanut butter cake were in a  cage fight, PB would wipe the floor with old Mr. Choco.

Now, that would be a mess, wouldn’t it! There’d be chocolate and peanut butter smeared all over the ding dang floor. I guess we can be thankful that peanut butter and chocolate are inanimate objects LOL

Is it really necessary to use those specific brands? Is the butter salted or unsalted?

    • SCV April 11, 2017 at 6:00 pm Reply

No you can use whatever brand you want and I use d whatever I had on hand.So it was the salted.

    • Anita June 20, 2017 at 3:47 pm Reply

Certainly not a requirement. I NEVER use Clabber Girl baking powder ~ it contains aluminum, very bad for us. Argo brand does not and is a much healthier choice. We must be constantly on guard against harmful additives.

… to finish my response, this recipe calls for baking soda, not powder. My point was to be careful in selecting ingredients based on brand names only. Not all are good for us.

When baking, if it is not noted, always assume unsalted butter is used.

    • DeerPark Momma May 24, 2016 at 2:49 pm Reply

And no, I’m sure that you don’t have to use those brands. :^)

    • Dee June 30, 2016 at 5:02 pm Reply

It is just a Brand of milk. I would think just use any brand … like the other ingredients.

    • TRISH July 1, 2016 at 1:22 am Reply

      plain old milk

    • Mischelle Presley-Jones July 7, 2016 at 2:51 pm Reply

TruMoo milk is just a brand of milk that isn’t treated with growth hormones. You can use any milk you like, I am sure.

    • SCV April 11, 2017 at 6:04 pm Reply

100% pure cow milk from cows on MDVL’s own large farms, under strictest hygiene standards. Just fancy milk I used what I had.

I used to work in a factory where we had a lot of pitch in dinners. I was happy to share my recipes and then my friends would say, “Mine doesn’t taste like yours.” If you want a product to have the “same” consistant taste each and every time, then you use specific brands of ingredients each and every time. That’s not to say that the end product wouldn’t be good with off brand ingredients however the quality of those ingredients makes a really big difference. For instance, I prefer the taste of Land ‘O Lakes butter over that of say, a store brand when I make Mexican Wedding Cakes. It’s like Coke and Pepsi. Although both are colas, they taste different.

Is the flour plain or self rising?

  7. Norrie McClure April 11, 2017 at 8:44 pm Reply

I would say plain flour since it calls for baking soda and salt.

No you can get TruMoo milk in white, chocolate and strawberry I goggled it. It has NO GMO, No high fructose corn syrup and No artificial growth hormones. in other word Pure. Don’t see that in our area. I don’t use milk so I will check the milks out in our area.
