This recipe has been a great hit over at Living On A Dime, and that doesn’t surprise me at all! Check out what the folks over there had to say about this amazing 2-ingredient fudge recipe:

“I guarantee you will love it (and hate me) for making it so easy to make!!! We’ve tried all the different variations of this 2 ingredient easy fudge recipe and NONE of them have ever failed.  This is the best easy fudge recipe you will ever make! Enjoy!”

I have to say I whole-heartedly agree! This is such a simple way to make a quick sweet treat, and those suggestions for different variations are brilliant. Okay, you’ve been patient, and for that, we thank you. Now, here’s those ingredients!

Ingredients

3 cups of Hershey chocolate chips

1 can Eagle sweetened condensed milk (14 oz.)

Instructions:

Pour both ingredients into a microwave proof bowl. Melt in 30 second increments. Stir after each 30 seconds. When melted, pour into a greased 8×8 inch pan. Let cool in the fridge and then cut into pieces.

Optional Variations

Cherry Mash: Use cherry chips to make the fudge. Then pour melted chocolate chips on top with peanuts.

Peanut Butter: Use peanut butter chips to make to the fudge. Then top with chocolate or don’t, if you prefer not to.

Mint- Use mint chips, mint pieces or 1 tsp. mint flavoring

Chocolate Covered Strawberry: Stir in 2-3 Tbsp. of strawberry jam

I’ve made this fudge version – I made it for someone because they loved fudge. I usually use another method of making fudge. There’s a town in Mich. during the summer they make fudge and will have the door open. There’s a screen door – and the smell brings you in – you can watch and smell them making it for 2 blocks. Many fudge recipes call for marshmellow creme – and yes you must work fast because it hardens quickly. Most candy recipes you have to work fast with the final step. Especially with candy in the soft ball or hard ball stage.

Having a stressful afternoon Now eating this fudge with a spoon while waiting for it to cool. Yummy with walnuts, marshmallows and semi-sweet chips. Can’t verify the cooled consistency, maybe next time.

If you’re not going to make it the way the recipe asks then you haven’t made this fudge. You’ve made something else. I’ve made this fudge before and it hardens quickly, yours didn’t harden because you changed it and used marshmallow cream. lol

Marshmallows…..like the rocky road version called for. Didnt harden because it was eaten before it hardened.

I just saw this…I just read it…I just made it! It’s in the fridge now….SO easy!!!

This recipe didn’t do it for me. It’s good and very easy but it lacks the buttery touch of other recipes. Just adding some butter and a bit of vanilla extract and a dash of salt would help a lot and not overcomplicate it.

Make this recipe all the time but I melt a “blob” of peanut butter in the choc or peanut butter chips, makes it creamier.

To those of you wondering about how much vanilla extract to use, I’ve always stirred in 1 tsp of vanilla to the chocolate mixture, AFTER it has been removed from the stovetop and before I pour it into an 8×8-inch square pan that I have lined with wax paper that I have either greased with margarine or sprayed with buttery Pam spray. I first made this recipe back in 1974. Here in Canada, sweetened condensed milk is only available in 10-ounce cans (300 ml), but I still use 3 cups of chocolate chips, about 1 pound (500 grams).

I prefer it with semi-sweet chocolate chips, my daughter prefers it with milk chocolate chips or half semi-sweet & half milk chocolate, and my hubby will eat any as long as I haven’t turned it into a Terry’s Chocolate Orange version. It takes about 2 hours to firm up in the fridge. I remove it from the fridge, let it sit on the counter for 5-15 minutes, depending on how warm the room is, then I turn it onto a cutting board and peel off the wax paper. After I’ve cut it into squares or strips, it goes back into the fridge, or freezer, in a tightly covered container. Keeps great.

Huh? This is a two ingredient recipe for fudge. Is that what you mean?

  13. gale thompson August 3, 2017 at 7:29 pm Reply

can you use york peppermint patties

  14. Alice August 7, 2017 at 9:42 pm Reply

I make this fudge every once in a while so it isn’t news to me since I’ve been making it for a number of years. But, I add a 3rd ingredient to knock the flavor up a few notches. I add a couple tablespoons of butter while mixing. I also prefer the semi sweet chocolate since Eagle brand sweetened condense milk is very sweet. I don’t like nuts in my fudge. I prefer to make my fudge on the stovetop rather than the microwave.

For Gale: Add a little peppermint extract. That’s what I use when I’m in a minty chocolate fudge mood.

Question: between the chips and milk, is it TOO sweet?

    • Alice August 21, 2017 at 8:13 pm Reply

      No

Made this today, added 1 tsp vanilla. It is delicious. My family has voiced no complaints!

Years ago this recipe was on the side of the can of Bordens sweetened condensed milk.
We made it for every special occasion as it was a quick no fail go to sort of thing.
Back then there were only unsweetened chocolate squares and chips which went well
With the sweet ness of the condensed milk.
Nice to see it’s still popular

I have made this with many types of chips.White chocolate or yogurt chips are great. And putting dried cranberries is so good! At Christmastime, a batch with cranberries and a batch with green pistachios or green candied cherries is pretty and yummy!

I made this for the first time today and so far all I get is nice frosting. Recipe didn’t mention anything about vanilla or how long in microwave other than check it every 30 seconds till melted. Will just use for frosting in future.
