Actually if you’re not using peppermint, you could drop one of these into your coffee for a beautiful cup of mocha! An imagine if you used Bailey’s for the flavoring – yummy! So many possibilities, I think I’m going to have to try all of them!
Here’s what our friends over at Your Cup Of Cake had to say about these lovely chocolate bombs:
Hot Chocolate Truffles, or some people call them Hot Chocolate Bombs are my favorite thing to give out to the neighbors at Christmas! Just drop one into a cup of hot milk and stir for the most perfect hot chocolate! Rich, decanted and a hint of peppermint from the candy canes! They’re fun to make and everyone needs some more hot chocolate during the holiday season. Plus, I like to stand out from all the sugar cookies they get!
It doesn’t have to be Christmas to give these as gifts to your friends and family!
Ingredients
2 3/4 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Crushed canes or cocoa powder for rolling
Instructions:
Melt chocolate chips, heavy cream, sugar, salt and vanilla extract in a sauce pan over medium heat. Keep stirring until smooth. Add any flavorings of your choice.
Pour into a bowl and place in the fridge until cool. (1-2 hours) You can speed up the process by putting the bowl in the freezer.
Scoop out small chocolate balls and then roll in crushed candy canes or cocoa powder. Store in the fridge until ready to use
To use: Drop one truffle into a cup of hot milk and stir until smooth. Enjoy!

Quick Tip: You can also roll these in cocoa powder if you prefer that over candy canes.
