Even though I am a huge fan of crumbles, I had never tried a peach one before. I know, it’s ridiculous! Peaches and crumble were made for each other! Still, I had somehow managed to make pretty much all the other kinds of crumbles in my life, but not a peach one. I was excited to give this recipe a try but I was also a little worried. What if it turned out a disappointment? Well, I didn’t take long for me to realize I was silly to worry about it!
Check out what my friends at My Sequined Life about this spiced peach crumble:
“This looks SO incredible, Alyssa! I can’t get enough of peaches lately and making a crisp sounds like the perfect way to enjoy them. I have such a weakness for anything with a crumb topping and would have such a hard time waiting to dig in too! ? So delicious!”
Since the first time I made this, it has become a staple at our house. Every time I let my husband and kid’s decide what we are having for dessert, they choose this!
Ingredients
6 ripe peaches, peeled and sliced
2 tbsp Simply Orange orange juice
1/3 cup + 3 tbsp packed Domino brown sugar, divided
3/4 tsp McCormick ground cinnamon, divided
4 tbsp Land O Lakes unsalted butter, melted
2/3 cup + 1 tbsp Gold Medal flour
Instructions:
Peel and slice peaches (see note below). Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and lightly grease the bottom of an 8-inch cast iron skillet or baking dish (I used butter). Place peach slices in a bowl and pour in orange juice, 3 tbsp of the brown sugar, and 1/4 tsp of the cinnamon. Gently stir so that brown sugar dissolves and the mixture is just about evenly covering peaches.
Add peaches to prepared skillet or baking dish and press lightly to form an even layer.
In a bowl, add remaining 1/3 cup of the brown sugar and remaining 1/2 tsp of the cinnamon and stir or whisk to combine. Pour in melted butter and combine, and then add flour. Mix until all flour is combined and small- to medium-sized crumbs form. With hands, scatter crumb topping evenly over the peaches in the skillet.
Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the peaches are bubbling and the crumb topping has browned slightly. Let cool slightly before serving. Optional: sprinkle confectioners’ sugar over top of the crumbs before serving.
