When I read the words, “no bake” I feel relieved. It’s not as if putting something in the oven requires any work, just more waiting and worrying if it’s going to come out okay. Not to mention heating up the oven – rarely do I have time for that! Nor do I have the desire to heat up the house. This pie was perfect. I could easily buy a chocolate pie at the store but homemade is best made, I always say. It has that extra bit of love in it that makes it taste so much better.

Chocolate anything is always a winner, so I was anxious to whip this baby up for the family. As expected it pleased my tiny crowd. It’ll make yours happy too! With such a simple and packed full of chocolate punch recipe, I could whip this up for a work or church potluck, too. These are the recipes my recipe box is built upon!

No grasshoppers were harmed in the making of this pie! While I am fairly certain in some countries they do have pies made of actual grasshoppers, (ew!) this one just features creme de menthe. This pie gained it’s popularity in the 1970’s and is now a classic dessert. I had never had it before finding this recipe but my grandmother says it was a big hit, and she made it often for company coming. I would have liked to be that company! What an amazing treat for young and old. This one definitely deserves your attention.

Oreos are the secret ingredient in the crust, but back in the old days they were called Hydrox cookies. Same thing, same deliciousness. They actually sell Oreo crumbs if you don’t feel like crushing up the cookies but I feel like that leaves out the cream, which really makes it seem more homemade and adds some flavor. Just my humble opinion, go the old-fashioned route!

I’ve been a blonde, and it was definitely fun. When it comes to these classic treats blonde is a nice change! I love brownies of all kinds whether they have nuts, are frosted, or have caramel drizzled over. They go perfect with milk, coffee, tea or nothing. What I’m saying is I’m all in with brownies!

Blondies are in a whole league of their own. They are lightly sweet and not as rich as their chocolate buddies. It’s definitely a nice switch every now and then, and they are just as simple to make! You can throw in nuts or omit them, though the classic recipe has them I typically leave them out.

Am I the only one that remembers the Bugs Bunny cartoon where he sings, “Hot tamales, hot tamales – get them while their hot” or do you recall too? Either way, I love tamales and so does my entire family. You don’t have to watch an episode of Bugs to get the idea, tamales are Mexican fare that feature a tender cooked meat and seasonings inside a cornbread crust. This casserole has all the important players from the meat on the bottom to the soft, delectable cornbread topping. So yes, it’s all in there and in every single bite!

I was thrilled to find this tamale pie as a larger version of the small ones we always order at our local Mexican restaurant. I knew it’d be a hit, and the dish disappeared faster than you can say, “andale!” In sticking with the Looney Tunes theme, Speedy Gonzales would completely approve and probably even have seconds of this savory dish. I topped mine with sour cream because that’s what I do with the small ones.

Whether you sang Hot Cross Buns or played it on a recorder in grade school I bet you never realized they were actually a thing – or maybe you did. Well I didn’t! I was surprised to see the recipe floating around and knew I had to make them because my mind was blown.

I excited told my kids, “Guess what we’re making? Hot Cross Buns!” They laughed at me because either I was silly for being so excited or they thought I was joking. Turns out it was the latter. My son said, “Now every time we play this in music class I’m going to want some!”

When I first saw the recipe for Spaghetti Corn I said, “Wait, what?” Needless to say I was intrigued. When I found that it cooks in the crock, I was excited! Then when I read the ingredients I drooled a little bit.

I’ll tell you what, it couldn’t be easier to throw together. This dish is perfect for potlucks or a quick weekday meal. You can side it with some green veggies or a fresh salad. Welcome to my recipe box, Spaghetti Corn!

Our friends over at Passionate Pastry say it all about this cake:

“Don’t you love a moist, comforting dessert that tastes better the second and third day? Especially when the dessert makes enough for 12 people? A dessert that comes from years and years of tried and true baking with love in a Mother’s kitchen?”

Yes. Yes, we do!
