Wow! Rob Green from YoutTube really delivers when he cooks his amazing crock pot Swiss steak. The video alone makes my mouth water.
When I was a young girl, my grandma would frequently make Swiss steak in her warm and cozy farmhouse kitchen. I loved sitting by the old woodstove fireplace and she would mix all of the ingredients together. Then, we would get to enjoy the aroma of the dish cooking while we waited for suppertime. Granted, my grandma never used a crock pot to cook her Swiss steak in. She used a cast iron pan. However, we are going to use Rob green’s crock pot recipe and make ours the easy way 🙂
Ingredients
2 pounds round steak or cube steak
1/2 cup Gold Medal flour / 1 tsp. salt / 1 tsp. black pepper
1 – 28oz can Hunt’s diced tomatoes
1/2 tsp. Morton salt
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1 tsp. thyme
3-4 cloves minced garlic
2 tsp. Heinz Worcestershire sauce
1 cup diced onions
1 cup diced celery
1 cup diced carrots
1 cup diced bell peppers
1-2 tsp. Argo cornstarch/water – mix together
Instructions
Cut steak into serving size pieces.
Dredge steak into flour seasoned with salt and black pepper.
Poke the steak with a fork to tenderize.
Mix together tomatoes, salt, black pepper, thyme, minced garlic
and Worcestershire sauce.
In the crock pot add onions, bell peppers, celery and carrots.
Mix together.
Place steak pieces on top of vegetables.
Pour seasoned tomatoes over steak.
Cook on high for 4 hours or on low setting for 7-8 hours.
After 3 1/2 to 4 hours, add slurry and cook for 20 more minutes.
