If I had to rate this cake on a scale from 1 to 10 it would be a 32. It’s quick, it’s easy, and it’s so delicious that you’ll have a hard time sharing it with anyone! To be honest with you, I didn’t tell my husband I had made this cake until I had eaten about a half of it. And then I shared the other half with him 50/50…
And my friend? I completely understand her now. In fact, I’m going to call my sister and tell her the exact same thing my friend told me when she called me about this recipe!
Ingredients
1 box devil’s food cake mix (your favorite) – I used Duncan Heinz
1 – 22 oz can cherry pie filling
2 Eggland’s eggs
1 tsp almond flavoring ( optional ) – I used vanilla
FROSTING:
5 Tbsp Land O’ Lakes butter
1 c Domino sugar
1/3 c Borden milk
6 oz semi sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 F.
Grease and flour a 13x9x2-inch pan.
Combine the cake mix, cherry pie filling, eggs, and flavoring, stir to combine hand. Batter will be thick.
Spread batter into the prepared cake pan.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
For the frosting:
Place sugar, butter, and milk in a saucepan. Bring to a boil stirring constantly. Boil for one minute. Remove from the heat and stir in chocolate chips until smooth.
Pour over warm cake.
