My family and I took a trip to North Carolina last summer. We were on our way to Rodanthe, a part of the Outer Banks. As we drove deeper into NC I noticed there were a lot of peach tree farms where you could go and pick your own peaches.
I wish that we could have stopped at one of these farms on our way home as I would have collected myself a bushel and a peck of those sweet southern peaches. Yes, I have my own peach tree at home but those would be Pennsylvania peaches and not southern. I do believe there is a difference 🙂
This bread calls for about 3 or 4 peaches per loaf. You make a puree with the fruit and add it to the bread mixture just like you’d do when making applesauce or banana bread.
I really don’t think it is necessary to add an extra sugar to this bread as the peach puree really sweetens it up. The recipe on the next page calls for sugar but feel free to leave it out if you prefer.
