This cake is so easy to make and it’s not to unhealthy for you either!
Wow! I can’t believe the holidays are almost over. As I type this we have less than 48 hours of 2016. Where has the time gone? I think the time has disappeared into the vortex of unhealthy holiday eating haha! I put on the big Christmas dinner this year and I made probably 50,000 calories worth of food or more. From casseroles to desserts we had it all. Then, my family and I eat off the leftovers for the next week. I think I probably gained 5 pounds. I don’t know for certain because I’m too afraid to step on that thing in my bathroom I call “the scale.”
So, as we sit here on the cusp of 2017, I am brainstorming for healthy recipes to make for my family so that we can get back on the wholesome eating train. And guess what? This even includes desserts like this 2-ingredient cinnamon apple cake!
You guys and gals are really going to love this recipe. It’s satisfying, delicious, and very easy to make. Plus, it won’t expand your waistline if eaten in moderation. Enjoy!

what size can of apple pie filling do you need?
For anyone who can’t read:Ingredients
1 can of Comstock apple pie filling
1 box of Duncan Hines dry angel food cake mix
Instructions
Mix the 2 ingredients
Pour into a greased 9×13 pan
Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until the top browns
how rude
There are all kinds out there……mean, rude, inconsiderate and those that just don’t think what comes out of their mouth…. And sometimes there are more than one of them reading a blog. Oh well, I can’t do anything about it. BUT I don’t know that I would EVER start a recipe blog. 🙂
I Think there is just one size but just in case the size of a reg green bean can
Ummm…I think you guys are rude. She meant that some people can’t find the recipe ingredients. She was trying to be helpful. Sadly, now she and others will think twice before offering their help.Maybe you should think from a positive view, before jumping all over someone. THAT’S exactly whats wrong today. Everyone looks for the worst in everything.
Kate, Deborah wasn’t being rude; in fact, the opposite. A lot of times
The recipe doesn’t come through on the site. I’ve experienced this several times. Thanks for your help, Deborah.
for those who can’t read …that’s not rude?
Why was this rude?
People think, apparently, that if you tell them the answer is obvious, then WAH WAH, you’re rude. It was direct, but then, they couldn’t understand the directions, so . . . I’m just saying.
Wellllll….It kind of insinuated some of us are illiterate….Kind of rude but kind of funny!!! Sometimes I read but it does not sink in fast enough. We should not purposely say rude things though.
It actually insinuated that the person had poor reading comprehension skills and poor google skills, to find out how Comstock sells their dang can of apple crap. And, LO! That’s the truth.
It was simply straightforward, not rude. Rude would have been to laugh out loud and call for the Darwin award. Apparently no one who comes here takes the time to read the stupid recipe before asking questions. Until people can read and solve simple problems for themselves, there is no hope for this nation. Comstock apple pie filling only comes in one size, unless you are buying industrial. And, by the way, this is one really gross recipe.
go back to bed Deborah.
Thank you, Deborah….I hate it when there is a picture of something I want to make and NO way to get the recipe. Thanks, I’ll print this out and try it.
So RUDE, as recipe does not state what size can of apple pie filling to use as in different areas of the country & stores there are different sizes of pie fillings just as there are different Prices & brands Also not everyone ia an experienced baker/cook. Also other very RUDE persons here too, so this is meant for them also
I agree, i don’t understand why people think they have to be rude.
I can’t understand why people cannot accept constructive criticism, especially when it is on point.
The answer was NOT rude, you poor people. COMSTOCK Apple pie filling only comes in one size. Try googling it! And anybody who would eat this terrible recipe, well, you ought to be offended by IT. Oh ye of tissue paper nanny boo boo feelings. If you can’t take being told to read the directions and then, dang, GOOGLE COMSTOCK APPLE PIE FILLING, as specified, you probably don’t need to be trusted with a hot oven after all.
The can of Comstock is 21 ounces. Comstock. Google.
If you cant be nice get off this sight !
Sight is the sense you have through your eyes. “Site” is a location.
I love your post and do not find it RUDE at all…simple and truthful, for all those dumbsh*ts out there!
cans come in different sizes just like peoples arrogance…..
Punctuation
The dumsh*t is the one who WROTE to people who can’t read…… why are people rude, because they have low self esteem, it makes them feel better to belittle someone else….. cans DO come in different sizes you know.
Comstock does not. If you have poor esteem over your poor reading comprehension and googling skills, then poor you. Maybe if you had Lou Gherig’s disease, that’s a real issue there.
You can use any kind of canned pie filling, whatever fruit you want, they are all delicious.
Yes, I used Pumpkin in this before cause it looked so good and it was not like I thought it would be and I ended up throwing it out.
Deborah You are so very rude.!!!!! 🙁
thank you Deborah
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha..now thats funny !!!
In my opinion, instead of saying “bake until the top browns”, the recipe should say “Cake is done when the top is golden brown and cracked. It should look very dry and be firm to the touch. Don’t underbake.” Also, I had to bake mine for 35 minutes.
Where does the cinnamon come in?

20-21oz can pie filling
Thankyou !!!
I love reading the comments as much as I love your recipes. my favorite is ” I made your cake just as the recipe said but I added this and changed that” I always make the recipe as it is written first before making any change to it.
Comstock one has ONE SIZE can of Apple Pie Filling…GEEEEZ!!
Geeeze, you couldn’t just be helpful could you? I’ve never bought a can of any fruit filling in my life. I always use fresh fruits, so I have no idea of what Comstock markets nor do I care. What I do know, is you should get some help. Sorry your life is so miserable.
There is no Comstock brand where I live, it would be nice to know the can size…
21 oz. walmart brand is ok then.
But you can’t expect people to google something for themselves and THINK and actually solve a problem. Because that’s too taxing, and then they cry.
Always smart to make a recipe as it reads the 1st time then you can decide how you would change it. Most pie filling comes in the 21 oz. But you can get the larger ones also. Next time I make it, I’ll use the larger can to get more apples. But it really doesn’t need it. Don’t be put off by everyone. Be brave and give it a try. By the way if at 30 mins. it’s still jiggly, put in for 10 more and it will be fine. It stinks so don’t think you’very done something wrong. Good luck !
21 oz to begin with. After making it the first time you can decide if you would want more. I sprinkled cinnamon and sugar on top for more flavor.
Evelyn Litchford My can in the cupboard is 21 oz can,I hope this help. 🙂
I would do the big can if you like apples and the small can if you want light apple. Experiment! I don’t think there is a right or wrong way. I have done this with pumpkin. Small can.
just mix the two no liquid or according to box instructions
just mix 2 ingredients
It looks very good. I plan to take it to a dinner party this coming Monday.
It would be nice to see a clip showing how you mix the apples and the cake mix. Is any special technique involved?
Is it recommended to fold the ingredients together until the cake mix is moist yet take care not to over mix? Do you sprinkle on cinnamon before baking? Can you sprinkle nuts on top, or might they burn.
I bet you could mix nuts in if you’d like rather than on top! I believe Apple pie filling already has Cinnamon mixed in it
Wish I could pin your recipes.
last i knew you could pin a recipe. you need to look on the pinterest site how to add it. there is a place you can copy this address and paste it into the pin you want to create. just because there is no shiny red pin on this site, it doesnt mean you cant pin something.
Heavens, don’t suggest that there is a way, or they’ll call YOU rude.
If you want to save the recipe, and can’t pin it, you can bookmark it on your browser. I created a folder for my recipes, on my browser, and just add the recipes I like, by bookmarking them. There should be a star at the very right side of your web address where this is found. I love doing saves this way. 🙂
Lots of times I just look on Pinterest and find the recipe is there already.
Can you substitue White cake instead of Angel food Cake in the 2-ingredient Cinnamon App;e Cake?
yes but it will be a slightly different texture, as angel food cake is lighter. still good.
You could do that, or even German chocolate, if that suits you. But it wouldn’t be the lower-fat thing that the angel food cake makes it.
do you make the cake first or combine both and mix, then bake
just mix the dry cake mix with the can apples
where are all of the ingredients? you didn’t even add cinnamon!
Cinnamon is in the can of apple pie mix. Liquids are in there also if you want to add any thing then add some butter on the top small pieces. about 1/4 cup of butter.
Margaret White, can you read? 2-INGREDIENT ……geesh
You all could be just a Tad nicer with your nasty replies…. with those that asked questions.
Ellie G, Be nice that was a good question . You can buy pie mix with or without cinnamon
OMG, you are so right on. Nobody in here has a lick of sense. Take their E-Z Bake Ovens right now!
Margaret up can add cinnamon, nutmeg – what ever other spices you – taste the apple mixture first to see if you need more spices…
I think your hilarious!!!! And no, people don’t read!!! Is there a specific way to mix the 2 ingredients??? Seriously. They “read”
too much into it.
I think it’s in the apple PIE filling.
Sounds great, but where is the cinnamon?
what size can of apple pie filling…the large or small can?
one regular box cake mix, and one small can pie filling. the larger can is enough to make 8 pies. of course if you really like pie filling….LOL!!
Had a strong eggy taste to it. Looked pretty, though. Won’t be using this recipe again.
How could it have an eggy taste when there were no eggs in it? Just curious.
Angel food cake mix includes about 8-10 dried egg whites (or about 1.5 cups of dried egg whites), it’s one of the main ingredients in Angel Food cake.
because Angel food cake is made with a great deal of egg whites. Back in the day when my grama made them from scratch she used 12 egg whites for 1 angel food cake
THERE ARE ABOUT A DOZEN EGG WHITES IN ANGEL FOOD CAKE. THUS THE EGGS.
try putting the pie filling on the bottom, the dry cak mix on top, and then putting a can of 7 up on the cake. the 7up will make it less dry, and more tasty.
Kamiko – wow – that makes it sound even better. Off to the store for a can of 7 Up since I never drink or buy pop. But this sounds like something to make an exception for. Thanks.
how can it have a egg taste. There was no eggs put in it. Just the dry cake mix and the apples.
The cake mix contains powdered egg whites. Angel food cake has a lot of egg whites in it. It’s what makes it so fluffy.
Can you use a different cake mix or only angel food?
Every change made to the recipe will change the taste and texture, BUT it is definitely fun to experiment! This is a very basic 2 ingredient recipe but a person can change it up with nuts, butter, spices, different kinds of mix and pie filling
If you like a different one, by all means do that. This isn’t a federal law.
what size can of pie filling did you use?
Pie fillings come in 21 oz. cans regardless of whether it is Comstock, Lucky Leaf, Duncan Hines, etc. Every recipe I have seen like this calls for 1 – 21 ounce can of fruit filling. As far as cinnamon goes, there is some in the apple pie filling but you could always add 1/2 to 1 tsp to your dry cake mix before stirring in the pie filling.
Have you tried to make this with other pie fillings? Such as cherry? Will be making this.
I have made this ‘type’ of quick Two Ingredient desserts several times. I have used Crushed Pineapple (20 oz) as well as Cherry, and Peach fillings obtainable at the local Safeway store. They have always received good comments, and I alway take home an empty pan !
Thanks, Charles! I wish everyone stuck to useful or at least positive comments on recipe sites and leave the cranky stuff to Facebook!
I plan to try the recipe exactly as is tonight with my daughter since I have her home for a change and apple is her favorite. Now i love every fruit you mentioned, and I live at a Marina on y boat, so I will be trying all the other fruits for myself and to take to the potlucks… variety is the spice of life! Thanks again for the ideas. A big thanks to the person who posted the original 2 ingredient recipe, as I love nice simple recipes that get me out of the kitchen and into the fun faster!
It must be useful to point out the obvious to these people who have no reading comprehension skills.
it also come in a jumbo can, with enough pie filling for 8 pies, which is why they are asking what size. of course, this cake needs the small one.
Pie fillings do NOT come in just one size can, so asking what size to use is smart. Don’t any of you people know anything about baking??
Lisa knows how to leave comments ! Good job Lisa
The Cinnamon is in the can of apple pie mix. Liquids are in there also if you want to add any thing then add some butter on the top small pieces. About 1/4 cup of butter.
Couldn’t you just put the recipe on the same page?
Amen to that, Krasyk….so often, there is NO way to get to the recipe. Thank goodness someone had the courtesy to put the recipe here in the comment line. It would be SO much nicer, kinder, to put the recipe right there under the picture.
I’m guessing that because of the advertising on this site, they require you to click through to page 2 for the recipe. That way they can sell more ads and make more money. I was glad to see the recipe in the comments, because even though the Page 2 was in RED I didn’t see it. Every recipe on this site is on at least two pages. Looks easy, I think I will try it.
I assume any pie filling would work, right> I want to try blueberry or cherry, What do you think?
i use peach pie filling on the bottom, a layer of nuts, a dry cake mix on top, along with brown sugar on top, and pats of butter. it makes a peach dump cake, or peach crunch cake that is out of this world.
I have made this ‘type’ of quick Two Ingredient desserts several times. I have used Crushed Pineapple (20 oz) as well as Cherry, and Peach fillings obtainable at the local Safeway store. They have always received good comments, and I alway take home an empty pan !
You can also use canned crushed pineapple. That’s the one I usually use. I have been making this for about 3 years now. AND THE SIZE of the can can vary from about 19 – 21 oz.
This reminds me of the “dump cakes” we used to make in Girl Scouts. Pretty much any cake mix with a can of pie filling. My scouts always preferred chocolate cake with cherry filling.
its the same thing, you are right! LOL!!
I tried it with Comstock cherry pie filling. After 20 minutes, it was golden brown on top, but “jiggled” in the middle when I went to take it out of the oven and looked wet. I cooked for another 5 minutes and it still jiggled in the middle and looked wet but I went ahead and took it out of the oven, thinking maybe it would finish cooking as it rested. When I tested a piece a couple of hours later, it was cooked around the edges, but was a gooey mess in the middle. Is it supposed to be like this? If it’s not supposed to be like this, any idea what went wrong?
I ate a piece anyway, and as a person with a huge sweet tooth, I found this to be way sweet.
it is for people with a sweet tooth. sometimes if you are above or below sea level, even the make of your oven, or a different pan than they used can make a difference. sometimes lowering the heat, and letting it cook a little longer can make a difference. next time put the filling on the bottom, and the dry cake mix on the top, with a bit of brown sugar or butter pats on top. the brown sugar makes a caramel taste on top, and the butter adds moisture. cake is yummy with butter in it!
Did you use an angel food cake mix or a regular cake mix? I would think the regular mix would make it too sweet.
I made this last night….just combined the angel food cake mix and 21 oz can of apple pie filling until well mixed and poured it into a 13 x 9 baking dish. Baked it for 25 minutes and tried a piece after it cooled. It was good, definitely sweet and had a cake-like brownie texture. I didn’t add any extra cinnamon, just used the two required ingredients. Not bad for someone who needs a sweet treat while trying to lose some weight.
I also just recently made this angel food cake mix into a cake, using fresh strawberries, sliced with just a hint of sugar, layered in the bottom of a 9×13″ pan. I then stirred the angel food cake mix with a can of pineapple, juice and all. Added chopped walnuts and put it on top of the strawberries. It was delicious. quick and easy.
How long did you bake it?
Josi, that recipe sounds good! thanks for posting
I’ve made this dessert for year. I have made it with 20 oz can of cherry and blueberry pie filling.
I do this with a can of crushed pineapple, too.. AWESOME!
Amazing how many folks cannot read or grasp the recipe instructions – 2 ingredients (dry cake mix & a can of pie filling)!! Recipes are guides, making a recipe your own by subbing like ingredients for like ingredients usually works, only chgs the taste/flavor – such as changing the cake mix flavor and/or the pie filling flavor. Adding cinnamon or nuts before baking or frosting or dusting powdered sugar after baking is preference, options. If not too complicated for some, try spice cake mix or devil’s food *dry mix* with a 15 oz can of solid pack pumpkin – nothing else, mix with your electric mixer or by hand, bake in any pan you want (I use my bundt or tube pan) and yes, I could add extra cinnamon to the spice version and/or nuts to either, and bake until done. Frost or glaze or dust with powdered sugar or not – optional. Also, boxed brownie mix with a can of pumpkin – solid pack pumpkin, 2 ingredients. Maybe I have just stumbled upon posts by inexperienced bakers. It doesn’t get any more simple, and yes…use some imagination by subbing ingredient flavors to your taste. Easy! Btw – not sure the post who said this didnt cook in center unless she mixed the cake batter and added pie filling or the post that said it tasted eggy.
Am definitely with Ronnie above on this one.
“” ONLY 2 items to mix””
is it all really that complicated?
Hate to give serious instructions.
How did some of you ever make it through school?
No wonder families & country in such a mess
wow, people today really blow my mind!
truly mind boggling to read through all these
and they vote!!!!!
TO: Ronnie, MissT & Freda: BAA! HUMBUG! – MY WISE MOTHER ALWAYS SAID “IF YOU CAN’T SAY ANYTHING NICE THEN DON’T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL!!”
Leave Mothers out of this and simply try to help those who”don’t get it”
Personally I won’t make this cake, the reviews are not good at all.
You missed out on a good dessert. I live in Colorado, so we are high altitude, made mine as directed, used a glass pan and cooked at 350 degrees for 30 minstrel. Still jiggle you so back in for10 more. Perfect. Be prepared as it does go flat and pulls from the sides. But still yummy. Oh yeah, sprinkled cinnamon and sugar on top to bake.
Connie your Mama is so right (: You just can’t please everyone~
Miss T you are so right. They should probably just go buy a cake before they burn their house down.
Ronnie, If I try the cake mix w/ pumpkin, is it also baked at 350 at approx 20-25 mins?
This is also known as a dump cake. The only difference is that you mix this. With a dump cake, you literally just dump the cake mix and pie filling or just a can of peaches into a pan without stirring and bake. I’ve also had the dump cake with pecans. I think this apple cinnamon would be delicious with nuts but than it would 3 ingredients but who cares? It will be really good.
Now our dump cake was called that because like you said we just dumped it in pan. Ours was not low fat but it sure was good. We dumped can of cherry pie filling, can of crushed pineapple and box of regular cake mix (dry) that was sprinkled over top and whole stick of butter sliced into pats all over mixture. to make it even more fattening and yummy, chopped pecans also dumped all over mixture. unlike the angel food and crushed pineapple cake that was great for diets because there was no fat, this actual dump cake was fattening but delicious lol
this reminds me of no fat cake recipe we passed around years ago when dieting. same thing only angel food cake mix and can of crushed pineapple. mix and bake and it was delicious
I may try it with gluten free cake mix. Should work just as well. Too bad you can’t buy gluten free angel food cake. Will be making in for a picnic I will be going to.
Carrot cake mix and crushed pineapple would be good.
Ours turned out very soggy and too sweet. Not sure why, I used ‘lite’ apple pie filling.
As one poster asked another with you same result: Did you *just* use the dry cake mix and the can of pie filling, as instructed, OR did you prepare the cake mix according to the instructions on the cake mix box, and then add the canned pie filling? Should have only used the dry cake mix and the can of pie filling.
I can’t believe some of these stupid questions. Someone gives you an idea and you question everything. Just experiment for pete’s sake!!! It seems most of you have never cooked before.
I’m just can’t believe all these questions!!! Now thick are some people! I agree with 2 of your comment “have you NEVER cooked before? & Just buy a cake before you BURN DOWN THE HOUSE”
I made this because I love easy recipes. It was really good. Thank you for the idea.
Folks, this is just a dump cake. Dump both ingredients into a bowl, mix, bake.
I think I would sprinkle some cinnamon sugar on the top. Maybe add a little butter too, just a little.
THESE RECIPES HAVE FOLKS ALL IN AN UPROAR.
I KNOW. CRAZY, ISN’T IT?
I made this with a package of Duncan Hinds Spice Cake mix. I added a half cup of chopped walnuts. I also added a couple of packs of single serving of baby apple sauce to moisten the entire bag of cake mix. The result was delicious, served with a scoop of cashew vanilla ice cream. Yum.
i am so sorry but this post has had me laughing so hard. i loved it, i needed a good laugh and i sure got it ty
There are some excellent ideas for other flavorings in these comments. Thank you everyone!
I don’t cook but this was so funny I might try just to read the posts connected to the recipes!!! hahahaha
This is quite comical to read…….
Everyone has shown up to post comments about a lot of things, but few were Cobbler. NOOOO !!!
I mean Apple Cake.
Thanks for the recipe. I can’t wait to try it. I don’t dare ask if anyone has used gluten free angel cake. I’ll make and let those know about it later.
I made this cake today but won’t make it again. It didn’t impress me. I had to leave it in the over for 37 minutes before the tester came out clean & the top was brown. The cake was coming away from the sides of the pan, indicating that it was done, as you can tell when making any cake.
Thanks for all comments and suggestions. I will try using the apple-pie filling, soon. The easiest and best, using angel food mix: (do not follow the back of the box even if tempted – you will ruin your cake)
In a bowl, mix your angel food cake, crushed pineapple (20 OZ can) (add coconut,if you like). You cannot miss. Delish.
I bake all the time. I made this and it did not bake correctly, added 20 more minutes, then 20 more minutes and it came out squishy for lack of a better description. I will not try it again. And yes the over works fine.
OVEN, before the spelling police take notice !!
The Duncan Hines Comstock filling comes in 21 oz cans
Deborah , Se how easy that was . You don’t have to be a jerk.
See not se , I don’t want to be yelled at lol
I believe this recipe and similar may have been given at Weight Watchers. That’s where I got my recipe. You must make sure the angle food cake is a One-step mix. You can start with that and add………..l 0about 10 oz) crushed pineapple. Cake mix + peach pie filling or lemon pie filling.
Another idea is to use a regular cake mix, like a spice cake mix. Add one can of pumpkin, or one can of apple pie filling. I add a bit of water if it’s to thick. Just the cake mix and fruit.
My mother never used to measure anything when she cooked and it always turned out great. However, I want to know EXACTLY the right measurements when cooking. As so often happens these days, cans of anything are getting smaller but the prices remain the same. So having an exact ounce amount or some measurement is always a good thing to do. I have noticed that Comstock cherry pie filling has very few cherries in it compared to what they used to have. You can get an “upgraded” can (I don’t recall the term they use), for a lot more money. Next time you get a can of the cherry pie filling, it might be interesting to get one of each and actually count the cherries in each. It was so bad one time that I called the company to complain and they sent me a couple of coupons for free cans of pie filling. The problem was that the “upgraded” version was not in stock that time of year and the coupons ran out before they were restocked.
I am Canadian and, to my knowledge, we don’t have the brand of pie filling in your recipe, therefore, I don’t think that asking the size is unreasonable. Some people are just ignorant of anyone or anything outside of their own small world (mind) and for that they are to be pitied.
NO ONE should be ‘clicking in to allow’ on ANY site. When you click and are unaware as to the reason you are at the risk of allowing malware in. Any site that you cannot see without a click to enter is an unsafe site- PERIOD. As is apparently this one which I will not , ‘click to see the recipe’… Really, nice try…
What is the Sam heck are you talking about, Notastupid Human ( I beg to differ)? You click on the next page because we can’t fit everything on to one page. We aren’t asking you to click into an unknown abyss that sucks your soul into the underworld. Smh.
Ya’ll Gonna make me lose My ind – Up in Here,Up in Here!!
Mind – See i have already lost a part of it!
Made this tonight. My family loved it. 🙂
I think this is a great recipe and I really enjoy the recipes.
I think it is unkind to find fault with things that people are kind enough to give. I have made a lot of these recipes and they are great. If you don’t want to make it, just leave it.
Thanks for the recipes.
Should be cooked longer. Was still raw in center. Better eat it all the day it’s made cause it’s best then.
Sometimes if you are used to doing something (ie cooking/baking) You think others who don’t do your thing much or ever should know what you are talking about. Perhaps more instruction is needed for those who are not familiar with the kitchen.
Ingredients
1 – 21oz can of (any brand) apple pie filling
1 – box (any brand) angel food cake mix (NOT PREPARED)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Mix the apple pie filling and the dry angel food cake mix together
Pour into a greased 9×13 pan
Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until the top is golden brown
LOL. Now they’ll ask what KIND of grease? Lard? Crisco? Butter? Motor Oil?
MADE IT…DELISIOUS..THANKYOU..HOUSE SMELLS YUMMY AND EVEN BETTER TASTES GREAT…DON,T ANYONE GET UPSET..THIS IS ALL TOO FUNNY…I ADDED HOMEMADE ICE CREAM ON TOP OF WARM CAKE..SO MUCH MORE TO GET JACKED OUT OF SHAPE OF..MUST PICK AND CHOOSE..LOVED IT ..THANKYOU…KNOW GOING TO WATCH NEWS AND ENJOY MY DESSERT……THEN I,LL GET EXCITED AND JACKED OUT OVER THE NEWS TODAY..THATS WHAT I CHOOSE TO GET UPSET OVER…BUT YOUR RECIPE HELPS…THANX AGAIN…ENJOY AND LETS BE KIND TO EACH OTHER….WATCHA THINK
Sounds delicious but really high in sugar, so unfortunately would indeed wreck my diet! Will definitely try it for an quick, easy dessert when someone pops over for a visit!
yes let’s be KIND, add a little understanding, and whisk in a little patience, and a large cup of “if you can’t say anything kind – don’t say anything at all”. thank you for All the wonderful ideas and additions to this recipe, I can’t wait to try some of them. To all Be Blessed, and have a wonderful day
I made this and threw it out. Awful. So i would not waste my ingredients or time.
If it is too mushy in the middle, use a larger pan so it isn’t so thick.
I haven’t made this recipe yet, just found it today. I actually can’t decide if it’s really good or really bad from the comments. From experience, I would say make it exactly according to directions without any alterations. It’s very simple, maybe that’s what throws people. It’s not a dump cake because as someone mentioned you dump everything in the pan and do not stir them together with a dump cake. In this cake you stir the two ingredients together and this is important, be sure to use the pan size called for(9×13). The only change might be to cook it a little longer if it needs it(about 10 Minutes). Most pie filling comes in standard sizes so it would be close to the Comstock brand. I always buy the store brand(Kroger) because it’s cheaper and has more fruit. I’m not an expert at all but I’m 69 and have been baking for quite a while. Just be patient and it should be fine.
I was wondering if you could see Cherry or Blueberry too?
Sorry, I meant use…I should learn to proof read. Lol
I can’t help but wonder if it would be even better with some butter. (Gosh, what isn’t? LOL!)
And I think when the poster said, “For those who can’t read,” she didn’t mean “illiterate.” She meant for those who can’t see it on their computer. Otherwise, if they were illiterate, they STILL wouldn’t be able to read it. We’re all good! Everybody have a good day, and for Heaven’s sake BAKE SOMETHING! You’ll feel better! 🙂
It doesn’t state if you follow the directions completely off the box for the Angel food cake before combining with apple sauce. Could you please advise?
Thanks
I made this once, it is very good. You can do the same thing with a 20 oz can of crushed pineapple, which I like even more.
Has anyone done this with strawberry filling?
I made this with crushed pineapple and angel food cake mix. The recipe did not say the size of can so I used large and threw the cake out. Can size is important. This blog is very interesting.
Can any of you tell me how to combine peanut butter and bread for a sandwich? CAn it be any kind of bread? How big is the bread? Can i put jelly on it? Will the police come if I put it on rye bread? What kind of knife do I use? Or should I use a spoon? Maybe I should buy Uncrustables?
The real question that we should be asking is did Gorden Ramsay ever find the lamb sauce?
wonder if you could use a can of fruit cocktail in juice
How much cinnamon it never said ?
