Have you ever wondered the folks back in the Pioneer Days did with their time? I mean, we all know that they worked like dogs because you kind of had to when you lived in the frontier land. I often think about what they ate. I bet they had a lot of wheat and barely based items as well as wild game. I don’t know if the piccolo players actually ate this ground turkey and cabbage casserole but if they did we can be certain that it put a great big smile on their faces.

This casserole is very simple to make and it tastes amazing. The great thing about this dish is that you can sub the ground turkey for beef if you would like. I, however, prefer making this meal with ground turkey as the recipe suggests. Ground beef tends to make the food a bit too greasy for my liking. I love how savory this casserole turns out and it pairs well with sweet corn and freshly made biscuits with sweet cream butter. Yum! I am seriously getting hungry just thinking about it!

Quick Tip: You can sub the ground turkey for beef if you want but make sure to really drain the fat off of it well as it will make this casserole greasy.
