Keyword being “was.” This recipe for 14k gold fruitcake has been adapted by the ladies of the Red Hat Society. These gals sure do know how to party! In fact, there is bourbon in this recipe and the Red Hat girls seem to be super excited about it. However, substitutions can always be made and you can use bourbon extract if you are uncomfortable cooking with alcohol. Keep in mind that the heat cooks off the alcohol during the cooking process, though.
Anyway, I love baking cakes for the holidays and what cake is more holiday-ish than a fruitcake? Plus, this fruitcake is extra special as it contains lots of golden raisins, hence the name “14k gold cake.” You guys are really going to like this dessert!
