I received one of these as a gift last year and loved it so much I made them for all my neighbors this year. They are easy and cost me about $2.30 each including wrapping and ribbon. For a baby shower favor, I decorated with white chocolate and iridescent sprinkles then tied up with pink ribbon. Cute! So, I’ve decided to change up the color scheme a bit and make these yummy apples for the holidays. aren’t they precious? I swear these caramel apples are almost too pretty to eat!

Making these caramel apples takes a bit of time but I look at it as a fun family activity to work on with your children. We set everything up at the kitchen table and had different “candy” stations for decorating. Once the apples were decorated and set, we wrapped them in holiday-themed cellophane paper and tied each one with a pretty bow. They looked great sitting on our table. We saved some for ourselves and gave the rest away as Christmas gifts to our friends and neighbors.

Quick Tip: Feel free to omit the nuts from this recipe if you prefer. We have a child with tree nut allergies so we left them out and replaced them with red and green m&m’s.

Argo cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, barilla pasta, Bertolli extra-virgin olive oil, black pepper, Bob's Red Mill, Borden, brown sugar, Campbell’s soups, casserole, Chiquita, Clabber Girl, College Inn, Cool Whip, crock pot, Daisy sour cream, dessert, Dole, domino sugar, eat, Eggland's Best eggs, fisher nuts, food, Gold Medal flour, granulated sugar, Green Giant, Hershey, Hodgkin’s Mill, Jell-O, Jif peanut butter, Johnsonville, keebler, kosher salt, Kraft, land o lakes butter, Libby, McCormick spices, Morton salt, Pam Cooking Spray, Pepperidge Farm, Philadelphia cream cheese, Powdered sugar, recipe, Ritz crackers, Sara Lee, Sargento, slow cooker, Thorn Apple Valley, Thumb Print cookies, Toll House, TruMoo milk, tyson, vanilla, vanilla extract, Vlasic, Wesson vegetable oil, whipped topping

This is the only thumb print cookie recipe I will ever use. They turn out delicate and delectable! Other recipes yield dry and tasteless cookies….not this recipe! This one has never failed me. Feel free to double this recipe as you will want more! Use whatever jam or filling you desire. Also, I just made these again with my children and we didnt add the nuts and they still turned out great! My youngest son has a tree nut allergy so we have to stay away from nuts. Have the kids roll the dough into balls and poke their thumbs into them….they had a blast creating these cookies!

I went to The Food Network and searched for thumbprint recipes. Emeril had an interesting one with raspberry jam, but my friend wanted strawberry jam, so with a few minor changes/additions, I made the recipe and was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked the flavor. The lemon adds a nice citrus-y flavor. I added the lemon extract to the cookies, and the Limoncello to the jam to pump up the citrus flavor just a bit. I’m sure I will be making these again!

Taste The Flavors Of The 1950’s With this Hamburger Casserole Recipe

Creamed corn and cheese are unexpected additions that add delicious flavor and texture to this easy casserole recipe. If you’re in search of a new and easy casserole recipe, look no further than Vintage 1950s Hamburger Casserole. This casserole is easy to prepare and will amaze you with its unique blend of ingredients. I know it sure did me! I wasn’t expecting such a flavorful dish to come from the 1950s but it sure did in the form of this hamburger casserole. Talk about a tasty meal!

This casserole reminded me a lot of goulash. That’s probably why I chose to leave the creamed corn out of the mix. Oh, and the fact that I hate creamed corn probably had something to do with it, too.

Feel free toe experiment with the ingredients in this casserole if you want. I wouldn’t change too many things around though if you are looking to sample a dish from the 1950s. I think my grandma used to make this casserole quite often and then my mother would also make it for weeknight dinners. I think it is pretty darn tasty 🙂

Have you ever wondered what folks ate before your time? I was born in 1981 but have always had a fascination with the 19502. I love the way the women conducted themselves, the hairstyles, and the fashion. I especially enjoy reading about the foods that they would prepare for their families or during dinner parties. This recipe is for a sausage stuffed steak meal that was a regular dinner choice from the 1950s to around the 70’s time era. It looks a little weird in the picture but it actually turns out quite good.

I’ll admit, when I first made it my husband and kids were all like, “What the heck is this thing?” LOL I told them to just try it and maybe they would like it. They liked it alright and ate it up because they were hungry but there weren’t any fireworks going off, either. I probably won’t make this dish again but it was fun to experiment. What are some of your favorite classic meals to prepare? Let me know in the comments. Enjoy!

When it comes to dinner, I am all about making things as simple as possible without forgoing flavor and nutrition. This cheesy, creamy chicken bake has a little bit of everything in it and it tastes great! You have a layer of cream cheese, bacon, and juicy chicken breasts all in one dish. Talk about a triple whammy of good food! My family really enjoys eating this meal, and I can totally understand why. I think you will be shocked over how simple it is to toss together.

I am not a huge fan of using boxed foods, but I have to say, Stove Top stuffing pairs rather well with this casserole. Plus, it makes making this meal even more simple. There is no bread to dice up and turn into stuffing because it’s already done. I would definitely call this casserole a busy mom’s best friend. And you know what? I am a very busy mom. I have kids to take to sports practices, play practice, and church almost every night of the week. It’s meals like this that make life a whole lot simpler 🙂

Hey, everyone! Today I bring you a delicious casserole that is just like lasagna, but a tad different. Do you want to know what that difference is? Of course, you do, ya nosey little gopher! 🙂 Instead of layering everything in the baking dish like you would do for a traditional lasagna, you will be rolling all of the ingredients up and adding in seafood! It really is a simple process and tastes just as great as classic lasagna. I do declare that Garfield would even approve of this method. If you are a mama or daddy of picky eaters, trust me, the kiddos will love this for dinner.

I find that I like seafood rollup lasagna better than layered lasagna. To me, the texture is just better. I can’t really describe it. You will have to try it for yourself to truly understand what I am talking about. I added an extra layer of cheese on top of this lasagna because we are big cheese eaters in my family. You can add more or less depending on your tastes. Enjoy!

Quick Tip: I always sprinkle a generous layer of parmesan cheese on top of the rollups before putting it into the oven to bake.

Do you ever get tired of tossing all of your food into a baking dish and creating casseroles? No? Yeah, me neither. I love me some casseroles! LOL! Anyway, today, we will still be making one heck of casserole!  I mean, hey, we gotta use those awesome casserole dishes that our grandma gave us for something! I know I got at least 5 casserole dishes as wedding gifts 12 years ago and I still have all of them now! Can you believe that?

Now, this meal is really good. It is spinach bacon and parmesan pasta. It is light, delicious, and perfect for supper or lunch. I have made this dish a handful of times already and each time was better than the last. I know you will share my sentiments. I love how creamy and textured this skillet pasta is. Did I mention that it is insanely fresh and flavorful? You can add a bit of chicken to make this a heartier entree or leave it as is and call this  recipe a side dish. The choice is yours. Enjoy!
