When it comes to holiday baking and goodies I like to veer from the beaten path a bit. You see, when I make yummy things for my friends and family I like to go all out and prepare baked goods that nobody else makes. These cute little meringue Christmas trees certainly fit the criteria. Theya re sweet, fun to make, and very pretty to look at. Plus, they are quite easy to throw together. My youngest son helped me make these last Christmas when he was only 9 and I think he did a better job at piping out the meringue than I did!

If you’re looking for a fun holiday baking project to do with your kids or grandchildren these meringue Christmas trees are the answer. Kids love to squeeze the piped meringue out into the form of trees onto the cookie sheet. Watch how accomplished they feel after they create their first little tree. It’s a very special time. I enjoy making these trees for my gingerbread house. Every gingerbread house has to have a few evergreens growing in the front yard and these meringue Christmas trees add the perfect touch. Enjoy!

Quick Tip: Use back-and-forth serpentine motions. Start narrow at the top and widen as you go. Squeeze the bag with even pressure and increase the width of the back-and-forth motion from the top of the “tree” to the bottom. For smaller “trees,” make 4 to 6 back-and-forth strokes. For larger “trees,” try 8 to 10 strokes.

These lightly sweet, super seasonal cookies were my cookie of choice when recently asked to send some holiday cheer to an Air Force Squadron stationed in Iraq. They’re sturdy enough to withstand the journey and tasty enough to make absolutely anyone smile! I love supporting our troops and I know they must feel so disconnected from home during the holidays. I can only hope that these special eggnog sugar cookies brought them a bit of Christmas holiday cheer.

You’ll find that these cookies are seriously easy to make and you can double or triple the recipe. You don’t even want to know how many batches I had to make of these cookies to send to the troops but it was well worth the effort. Surprisingly, these eggnog sugar cookies are quite sturdy and can withstand a lot of jostling. Considering putting them into decorative Christmas boxes and packing them into holiday gift baskets or packages. I like to do this and then take them to the local homeless shelter so that the people in need might receive a nice gift of Christmas cheer 🙂

Quick Tip: I like to frost these eggnog sugar cookies with cream cheese icing.

A Yule Log was made for Christmas and did I ever have fun making it! The meringue mushrooms are easy and they are so adorable! Sprinkling a little cocoa powder on them takes the snow white away and the contrast with the cake-roll log is perfect. The flavor of the frosting and filling can be changed to whatever flavor *but* the idea is to keep the color brown so that it looks like a log. This is a new tradition that will stay for me because it was not hard and I always thought it would be!

I’m not going to lie, guys and gals. This recipe takes a great deal of time and patience to pull off but if you put your mind to making this yule log you;ll be able to do it and the results will be breathtaking. Imagine showing up to a holiday party with this yummy yule log cake in tow. Your dessert will be the talk of the shindig for sure! In fact, I bet you’ll even hear a few people say, “That’s way to pretty to eat!” But trust me, they’ll get over that concept right quick as this yule log is delicious.

Quick Tip: Create holly berry on the yule log using a bit of bay leaf and cranberry. You can alsoattachh non-edible decorations if you’d like.

Some might think of desserts with lemon flavors as a summertime food. However, i find that things like this lemon tart truly invoke the holiday spirit. Plus, I love lemon, especially Meyer Lemons, and this yummy tart really makes me happy. Take a break from all the holiday fudge, cookies, and pies and whip up a lemon tart for your holiday guests to enjoy. It’s not that hard to make and the results are seriously tasty. I made this lemon tart for a holiday church function last year and it was a huge hit.

Who knows. if you show up to a holiday dinner with this lemon tart in tow you might even impress your mother-in-law with your baking skills. Now, that would be worth the effort in my book haha! From the graham cracker crust to the silky filling there really isn’t anything not to love about this sweet and tangy tart. I recommend serving it in small slices as it is very rich but then again I tend to “go for it” when I’m noshing on a dessert such as this one. Whatever you do just make sure to enjoy yourself 🙂

Argo cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, barilla pasta, Bertolli extra-virgin olive oil, black pepper, Bob's Red Mill, Borden, brown sugar, Campbell’s soups, casserole, Chiquita, christmas wassail, Clabber Girl, College Inn, Cool Whip, crock pot, Daisy sour cream, dessert, Dole, domino sugar, eat, Eggland's Best eggs, fisher nuts, food, Gold Medal flour, granulated sugar, Green Giant, Hershey, Hodgkin’s Mill, Jell-O, Jif peanut butter, Johnsonville, keebler, kosher salt, Kraft, land o lakes butter, Libby, McCormick spices, Morton salt, Pam Cooking Spray, Pepperidge Farm, Philadelphia cream cheese, Powdered sugar, recipe, Ritz crackers, Sara Lee, Sargento, slow cooker, Thorn Apple Valley, Toll House, TruMoo milk, tyson, vanilla, vanilla extract, Vlasic, Wesson vegetable oil, whipped topping

Every year, my mother has a family gathering at her home on Christmas Eve. This gathering usually takes place right after the church Christma pageant. We all sit around the Christmas tree sipping on hot drinks and eating holiday baked goods and candy. Everyone in my family takes turns discussing the true meaning of Christmas and any resolutions that we may have for the upcoming new year. It’s a glorious time of family, food, and fellowship. My favorite part of the evening is my mother’s hot wassail. What a yummy drink!

If you are looking for something spicy, hot, and truly Christmasy, then this wassail recipe is for you. It combines all the spices and flavors of the holidays into a bubbling pot of apple and cranberry juice goodness. My mom always serves hers in a punch bowl with cinnamon sticks and orange slices. You can serve yours this way or leave it in the Crock Pot on the warm setting so that it stays hot. Ladle the wassail out of the pot or bowl into decorative Christmas mugs or glasses and enjoy 🙂

Quick Tip: There are many ways to serve wassail and as you can see, mine differs slightly from this recipe as I served mine in a punch bowl with orange slices floating about instead of a slow cooker.

Hey there, everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend and stuffed yourself to an oblivion with turkey. Who here used some of our amazing Thanksgiving recipes? I know that I sure did! I made a killer green bean casserole this year and the recipe came straight from the Tastee archives. It was a big hit with the family at the dinner table. Anyway, Thanksgiving is now behind us and we are officially in the Christmas season and do you know what that means? It’s Christmas baking time!

You are really going to enjoy this lovely little recipe. It’s called, ahem, “Christmas Crack.” Now, before you run away, just hear me out. This holiday recipe might be named rather crudely but you’ll soon see why after you take your first bite. It’s pretty much impossible to stop eating this stuff. You just scoop up handful after handful into your mouth and before you know it your Christmas Crack is gone. it’s truly addicting! This yummy holiday trail mix is very easy to make and my family loves giving it away in decorative tins as holiday gifts. Are you going to go for it and make some of your own Christmas Crack?

Quick Tip: You can make this yummy candy mix for any holiday. All you have to do is switch up the color of the M&M’s.

This recipe has been one of my grandmother’s favorites for years.  We followed a recipe for it one day a long time ago when we both had a longing for cheesecake, but did not know how to make it.  We made it over and over again, substituting the jam for different flavors to try new things.  They were all great (guava was my personal favorite!)  Sadly, some time ago, we lost the recipe.  We looked for it high and low, but nothing.  It was gone.  So I knew it was time for us to come up with something.

This recipe is truly an easy one for anyone to put together.  No need to spend hours perfecting a cheesecake that takes too long to make.  It is far too difficult and not worth it.  This cheesecake may even be better than the classic cheesecake I have slaved over making in the past.

Quick Tip: Switch up the topping ingredients for a different pie each time.  Maybe a different fruit preserve, or some Nutella!
