My daughter went through a stage when she wanted a banana every single day. I couldn’t buy them fast enough it seemed. We were always running out and she was disappointed. With all the health benefits of eating bananas, I was just happy that she was so wild about them. I’ve never really been a fan. It’s purely a texture thing. I can’t get over the mushiness of the fruit. The flavor is one that I enjoy though. Anyways, when my daughter got over her banana phase, I forgot to slow down on the purchasing of them. They’re so cheap anyways that I don’t mind having extras.

That meant we had a lot of bananas that were getting overripe and going bad. I was tired of throwing them out, but I still had to buy some, because the rest of the family ate them. That’s when I started tossing them in the freezer. That was a trick my sister taught me years ago.

Now, you may wonder what I’m going to do with overripe frozen bananas, right? Well make banana bread of course! This recipe from All Recipes is a really good one. It’s simple, tasty, and everyone loves it. I make it all the time.

It had been one of the longest weeks at work that I had encountered in a long time. I work as a nurse in an ER, so not much surprises me anymore, but this particular week was a rough one. I felt like I was about 20 years older than my real age, and that wasn’t a good feeling. I am someone who believes that you should leave work at work, so after I left the hospital, I had to put on my wife and mom hat and head home to my family. They were expecting dinner, just like they do every night that I’m not working. The last thing I wanted to do was cook.

I saw that my husband had thawed out some chicken, meaning he wanted me to make chicken. I considered just seasoning it up and tossing it in the oven and calling it a night. Then, I remembered a recipe that a friend at work told me about.

This French onion chicken that she had made from a recipe that she had seen on All Recipes. I remembered how she said it was so easy. That’s what I made… and she was right! It was really tasty too. The family was happy, and so was I.

My kids are infamous for letting us know about their snack day the night before they are supposed to take it in. I once asked the teachers to shoot me an email somewhere around the week before so that we would get a heads up, but they are busy an don’t always have the time to do that, which I understand totally. I know that they send home a paper with the kids. I never see that though. They aren’t the most organized little people in the world. That drives me nuts too because I am mega organized, but that’s a story for another time.

When I found this recipe on All Recipes recently, I knew I was going to hang on to it. When they came at me with a “I have snack day tomorrow” I was going to be ready. I actually printed this out and hung it on the fridge!

I was sure to pick up all the ingredients that I don’t normally have on hand, which isn’t really much. And the day came, just like I thought it would. I whipped these up the night before in no time. It was like these were made simply for those last minute dessert requests. Pure perfection.

There was one rule at my house when we were growing up. No matter what we had for dinner, we always had a vegetable along with it. My mom and dad would require that we take and eat at least two spoonfuls at every meal. After some time of doing that, they could figure out which vegetables we liked, which ones we didn’t, and which ones we could tolerate. The only ones that I really couldn’t force down were beets. Everything else I actually enjoyed. I was the easy kid. There was one veggie that we never had though and that was broccoli.

My parents didn’t like broccoli, so they never made it for us. I think I was at a babysitting job the first time that I had cooked broccoli and I fell in love with it. Now that I get to make the meals, I use broccoli whenever I have the chance.

This chicken broccoli divan recipe from All Recipes is one of my favorites. It’s super easy, rather affordable, and everyone at my house enjoys it. Plus, I don’t have to force my kids to eat their veggies, because they are already in there.

My son was graduating from high school last year, and me and his dad were so proud of him. We wanted to throw him a great big graduation party with catered food and all the bells and whistles. He, being the smart boy that he is, reminded us of how much money that was going to cost. Then, he suggested maybe we just do a small gathering, and then he would like to use the rest of the money for his college expenses, instead of us blowing it on a fancy party. Well alright then. I’m not sure where he got his intelligence from but I’m glad he has it.

He told me and my husband that he would rather have us cook something, because it was probably going to be a while before he had home cooked food again after he left. I decided to do a BBQ, because the weather was going to be beautiful.

I found these things called rusty chicken thighs on All Recipes, and it sounded like the perfect main entree for the party. They were really easy to make, and everyone truly enjoyed them.

Mom called me last Thursday to ask if I could visit last weekend. She said my brother and his family were coming to visit and it would be great if I and my boyfriend could come too. Since he would end his vacation on Friday, I was the only one who was able to confirm. Upon arriving at my parent’s house, I already noticed by brother’s van. Even before I could get off my car, my niece was already running to welcome me. My brother and my Dad immediately left to visit one of the neighbors while my Mom and Andy proceeded to the kitchen to make us dinner.

I immediately volunteered to play with my niece, which was what they all wanted actually, those schemers. While we were playing, Andy told us we would be having black pepper steak for dinner. It’s my dad and my brother’s favorite. They would just tone down the peppery flavor for me and my niece.

My niece immediately asked me why I was “afraid” of black pepper. Me being me told her it’s because black pepper has magical powers and that if I eat too much of it, I will have dark magic. The storyteller in me got carried away that by dinner, my niece refused to eat the really delicious steak.

I was blamed and I had to make up for it by telling her another version of the story that finally prompted her to eat. A recipe for that savory steak can be found on the next page! Just make sure you don’t tell anyone it has magical powers.

Jane is one of my favorite cousins. We grew up together playing with each other along with her sisters, which is why until now, we’re really close. You can even say that she’s my “best friend” among all of my numerous cousins which is why I am always glad if she can make it to reunions. Well, Jane rarely makes it to reunions. She works for a television station and it makes her have an irregular schedule. Most especially after the elections, she is always out of town.

I kind of missed her a lot, which is why during last reunion, I was totally happy that she was able to come even if it’s just for the day. Jane arrived in the evening. She looked really tired because she came straight from a coverage. She isn’t the reporter herself, but she is one of the editors.

We had a bit of a nice talk with her before she finally succumbed to her tiredness and fell asleep on the sofa. The next day, Jane wasn’t around anymore. She left us a note saying she had been called for another coverage. But she also left us breakfast as an apology. It was waffles with avocados on it.

There were plates lined up on the kitchen counter. We loved them actually, despite them being quite unconventional. This recipe that I will share with you is quite similar to Jane’s waffles. I hope you will love it!
