My daughter was having her first high school Spring Fling dance. She was so excited. She decided that she didn’t want to go with a date, even though several boys had asked her. She was looking forward to spending the time with her closest friends. Needless to say, I was quite relieved. I wasn’t ready yet for boys and dating and all that comes with that. Her dad and I got lucky in the aspect we didn’t have a boy crazy teenager! She is such a good kid, she even asked if I wanted to come and be a chaperone at her first dance. That was really shocking!
I remember my first dance. That was the last place I wanted one of my parents to be. It was one of my first shots at independence and freedom outside of going to school. Of course I agreed to show up and be there for her. Maybe she was nervous, I’m not really sure.
Part of being the chaperone includes getting to sample all the yummy desserts that the other parents graciously donated. These orange creamsicle bars that were dropped off were just like this recipe from Let’s Dish Recipes…. and they were incredible!
