What does the red chili flakes do. Is there a substitute, or can be omitted?

    • Juli August 4, 2017 at 2:20 pm Reply

They just give it a bit of spicy flavor. You could definitely omit.

Each of us have our own favorite meatloaf recipe. I’ve been using the same basic one for years. Sometimes I pat it out into a big square, cover the square with any combination of ingredients I like ie: mushrooms and caramelized onions, shredded cheese, any combination of the veggies and cheese, salsa and peppers, just about anything you want. Roll up, cover with your favorite sauce, then bake at 350` for 60 to 90 minutes. Let cool before cutting.
