Lips Like Sugar Is What You’ll Have When You Dig Into This Delicious Pie!
When I was just a little girl, my grandmother used to make this incredible sugar pie everyone in my family loved. It was something we all looked forward to, no matter what the occasion.
I have searched far and wide for a recipe for sugar pie that was like my nana’s. I was heartbroken when we lost her and no one had it. It was the one she made at every holiday and that got eaten in no time flat – and for good reason! It was so incredibly delicious and it just reminds me of home, plain and simple! I have tried and tried recipes to no avail. Something was always missing and I feel like it was the instructions for this one that did it. Before, I never reduced the heat at the end of the bake time and I feel like that was the trick!
Either way, you owe it to yourself, friends and family to try this pie out and see why it’s a staple in so many households. Not matter how full I am at the end of a meal if I know there’s sugar pie I am having a slice!

Wowza, THIS IS DELICIOUS !
my mother called her sugar pie recipe “poor mans pie”.
Mix one cup for flour and one cup of sugar. Add 2
cups of water. Mix until lumps are gone. Sprinkle top
with nutmeg and four or five chunks of butter. Pour
into an unbaked pie shell. Depending on your oven,it
should take 40 to 45 minutes at 425 degrees. Be careful
not to overbake. Butter and nutmeg maybe a little runny
but sugar/flour/water mix should be set.It is yummy when
eaten warm.
Being diabetic, can this be made with anything other than 1 cup of sugar? It might send my numbers overboard. It looks delicious.
My grandmother used to make a brown sugar pie. I wonder if you could substitute brown sugar for the white.
I substitute equal for sugar in all recipes & it works fine….use same amount!
