I cannot begin to tell you how in-love I am with this delicious recipe! I mean, first off, it is insanely easy to throw together and secondly, it tastes dang good! My entire family loved gobbling up these pork chops, especially my husband. He said it was a very hearty meal that he hopes I will make again and again. Wow! What a nice compliment! My boys can be very picky eaters at times and even they were impressed by the pork chops. I think it is safe to say that this 4-ingredient masterpiece of a meal is a real winner!

Check out what my friends at Avocado Pesto had to say about these baked pork chops:

What an interesting recipe! I never quite know what to do with pork chops when we get them in our CSA pickup, so I really love this idea. That browning on top looks awesome.

It is interesting, isn’t it? I never knew there was such a flavorful recipe because in my mind for so long is was fry them up and boom – dinner. This gives them a whole new dimension of flavor and because they are baked they are extra tender.

Ingredients

1/2 pound thin cut pork chops (5)

1/2 small onion, sliced

1/4 cup Hellman’s mayonnaise (or more, if you really love mayo)

4 oz Kraft extra sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

sea salt, black pepper, to taste

Directions

Bring the oven to 350 degrees F. Using a meat hammer (or any other appropriate kitchen utensil) tenderize the meat on each side.

Place meat side by side on a baking sheet lined with Reynold’s aluminum foil.

Season the pork with salt and pepper and then spread sliced onions on top. Spread Hellman’s mayonnaise over meat and onion and then top with Kraft shredded cheese.

Bake 35-45 minutes until cheese is bubbly on top and meat is cooked through to about 165.

instead of using Hellman”s mayo–can I use miracle whip?? Thx

    • Christine Bock April 16, 2017 at 1:30 pm Reply

You certainly can, but it will taste sweeter since MW is sweeter. But if that is your family’s preference, they will love it too.

    • Cinco de August 27, 2017 at 10:25 pm Reply

No. Never replace mayo with Miracle Whip. Ever.

Tried it – not bad – not great. Pretty much like regular except the onion taste

Sounds delicious, I’m going to make this for my husband.

Pork chops always seem to be on sale. I’ll buy them more, now that I have this new recipe. Sound like something my family may like, they’re pretty burned out on the same old ones I cook.

How do you spread the mayo over the chop and onions??

    • Julie Biddle April 16, 2017 at 3:56 am Reply

I hear you – had the same question. I think it would be easier to spread mayo over them, then add the onion, then top with cheese.

I used the new Hellmans in the squirt botyle

Pork chops used to be a once-in-a-while thing, now they’re once a week since finding this recipe on Facebook. Easy, fast, and oh-so-yummy!

Does the cheese get overly done?

  11. Carol April 19, 2017 at 12:42 pm Reply

I added a little chipotle chili season to the mayo for an extra kick. Delicious.

This recipe sounds delish. I never cook pork chops because I dry them out … gonna try this one tonight. Thank you for sharing

Try browning in pan, salt & pepper, then bake with one can of mushroom soup on top for about 20 mins. @ 350 deg. F. I add a little garlic powder as well, to the chops as I am browning them. All those flavors marry together during baking. It’s super delicious and the chops are tender.

      • Marcella August 22, 2017 at 1:57 pm Reply

I do mine same way but add saute onions and mushrooms also good with cream of chicken..

    • Shelley Farler September 30, 2017 at 12:50 am Reply

Yes, don’t know what they are doing to our meat. It’s not the same. Always dry and I’ve done the .mushroom thing for 40 years. And dark meat chicken, legs and thighs, are like white meat and dry. Anybody else notice this?.

Pork and mayo and cheese? Don’t serve this for Passover 😉 Not exactly Kosher, but sounds delicious!

    • Kristie September 13, 2017 at 10:55 am Reply

Pork alone isn’t Kosher. Adding the dairy to it isn’t going to change anything. I get that you were trying to make a joke, but doesn’t really work here.

Could I just use Pork Cutlets instead?

  21. Jill Slotwinski October 9, 2017 at 6:52 pm Reply

Do you use bone in or boneless pork chops?
    Thanks,
    Jill
