The Fourth of July, picnics, parades, baseball and apple pie! You could throw in any combination of those things and more but as everyone says… nothing is more American than apple pie. That’s why you’ve got to get the recipe right! I think when it comes to a classic apple pie, less is more. I wouldn’t go over the top, the flavors do what they need to on their own.
There are so many variations but this one is closest to the very BEST apple pie I’ve ever had which was from a hometown bakery. It was simple, but that crust is what always gets to me. Throw in a scoop of vanilla ice cream and it just doesn’t get any better, folks! You can even warm it up in the microwave – yum!
