A few months ago we found out that our favorite Italian restaurant had been closed down. It was not necessarily a fancy Italian restaurant, but more of a cool, cheap hangout place. It had an extra-large pizza, a dozen garlic rolls, a dozen fried chicken wings and one pitcher of soda for just $20. I know!! It is crazy! There is no way there is that much amazing food for under $20 anywhere else, but it is true. I think maybe they went bankrupt because their food was TOO cheap. I will never know, but I knew I had to do something about the food I would be missing. We were all so disappointed, but we knew we had to get on it!
One of my favorite dishes at this place was a baked casserole of beef and pasta. I guess you could say it was probably a cross between baked ziti and lasagna. Either way, it was served in a small, personal sized dish and was absolutely amazing. It was just tossed pasta, red sauce and beef and then baked in that very dish with a thick layer of luscious melted cheese over the top. There was truly nothing better than that amazing dish of heavenly comfort food!
