Make This Amazing Dessert (Works Really Well As Breakfast, Too…)

Over the years I’ve tried quite a bunch of dessert recipes – as well as breakfast ones, especially when it comes to the holidays. We’ve had so many cranberry cakes, pies and pastries that my husband threatened to move into the garage if we were having cranberry-anything this year… So I gave in and decided to try something totally different.

There are no cranberries, or any berries, involved in this recipe. I think it’s refreshing, even though some of you may feel gingerbread is kind of a “safe” flavor for the holidays, too. However, I thought this cheesecake looked adorable with those little gingerbread men on top, so I decided to give it a test run.

I have to say, I don’t miss the cranberries at all! This cake turned out super flavorful and yummy, and I am SO having this for breakfast on Christmas morning! I might even make this my regular breakfast dish… but don’t tell the kids I said that. And who says you can only make this for Christmas? Not, I!

Quick Tip: If you’d like to make this look “less Christmassy”, leave out the gingerbread men.

So Yummy, You’ll Forget Your Manners

Now that we are in the middle of the Holiday season, I think it’s time to share some of my family’s favorite Thanksgiving and Christmas dishes.

This super scrumptious sweet potato casserole is definitely one of them – and it’s so tasty, I tend to make this year ’round (even though some people consider this Holiday food!) I really don’t care if something is traditionally a Christmas dish. If it’s delicious, I will make it any time of year!

What makes this sweet potato casserole extra special, is the splash of Grand Marnier (you could use Cointreau, if preferred). I think it really gives this side dish a very sophisticated touch, and makes it fancy enough for any occasion. The flavor is not too strong, no need to worry about that! And this dish definitely won’t make you tipsy.

This recipe makes eight servings – maybe six, if you like this as much as I do! It’s very easy to double, if you’re cooking for a crowd, and you’ll even get make-ahead directions for it.

How To WOW Your Dinner Guests

First off, don’t let the long list of ingredients scare you. I was determined to make this knowing it featured both bananas foster flavors and caramel – what could be more tempting? Plus I find, as I am moving along in the kitchen I enjoy gathering the ingredients and mixing them up. I put on some country music and sing as I go. Cooking can be a great adventure or a solitary escape.

Honestly the cake was quite easy and so good I couldn’t stop eating it. You may want to plan for this and have it be your breakfast, lunch and dinner all in one. I’m actually glad I had my husband and our friends to share or else I would have easily eaten it all! When the knife went through that first slice it was like butter, so soft and welcoming!

This is a cake that is fancy enough for any occasion, but I still love making this on a regular weeknight, as well. Dig in and enjoy every single bite – you deserve it!

These 3 Layers Of Pure Pleasure Will Blow Your Hair Back!

My niece was born this time of year, which has been a blessing for my sister – she really loves all the traditional fall flavors and a birthday party is a great excuse for her to make all the delicious autumn desserts. However, she always tries to tweak the traditional recipes a little; to give them a modern twist without changing them too much.

This year, I wanted to help my sister in the party preparations and she gave me this recipe she had found over at Delish. She and I are both crazy in love with sweet potato pie, so these bars are pretty much everything we could ever hope for when it comes to desserts!

Of course I had to make a test batch – you know, just to see if these were good enough for the guests… ahem. They turned out so amazing that I immediately added this recipe to our holiday menu! There’s nothing wrong with a traditional pie, of course, but these bars are totally out of this world.

That Fluffy, Creamy Frosting Is Better Than ANY You’ve Ever Tried Before

I didn’t know it was possible to get tired of your favorite cake in the world but, ladies and gentlemen, it happened. I am still in shock and I think I may need therapy. It was a couple of weeks ago when I made the chocolate cake I had LOVED for years, and I thought, “this doesn’t taste as good as it used to”. Seriously, I had over-enjoyed that recipe!

Lucky me, I had already set my eyes on an amazing cake my friend had made for her daughter’s birthday party. It was so delicious, I just had to ask her for the recipe. And since my old favorite didn’t seem delish anymore, I grabbed my apron and got to work last weekend!

Boy, am I glad I did because this turned out amazing! The cake itself is totally scrumptious, but that special frosting will make you slap your knees – or maybe even your momma! Who would have thought a little bit of mint could make such a huge difference?

Quick Tip: For even stronger flavor, you could add a drop of mint extract to the cake batter, too.

I Could Try 10 New Recipes But I’ll Always Come Back To This One

My mother and I both like to bake, and occasionally we arrange a baking contest – just between the two of us, for fun! We let our family members be the jury and it’s always a blind test, so that they won’t feel pressured to vote for either mommy or granny… Somehow it’s usually always my mother who takes the 1st prize. I guess it’s all those decades of experience that shows in the end result.

However, there was this one time when I got ALL the votes from our honored jury! It was the time when we were making a marbled cake, and I had found the perfect recipe.

This is what I would call an old-fashioned cake, and I mean that in the best possible way. To me, old-fashioned cakes are all about simplicity and great flavor. You don’t need super fancy ingredients and difficult instructions to end up with a yummy cake! And this recipe is proof of that.

I love a good no bake dessert. I used to think those were the desserts for the lazy or for quick fixes, but they did not taste that well. Boy, was I wrong! They taste amazing (usually, at least!) and they are definitely not for the lazy. Some no bake desserts are actually more complicated than regular desserts that you do bake. But luckily for you, this dessert is not only no-bake, but totally easy and do able at home!

I love a good cheesecake. Oh yeah, it can be such a delicious treat when a cheesecake is made well. However, I know how to make a good cheesecake and if there is one thing it takes, it is TIME. It has to be beaten and mixed properly, then in the oven for 30 minutes while on, then another hour while off and then in the freezer for at least 6 hours (I usually just leave it overnight!). There are so many things you need to do in order to get a good cheesecake, it just becomes impossible to get it right! But thankfully, with this no bake, lemony golden cheesecake, you have the perfect solution to that problem.
