I Can’t Get Enough Of This Traditional Dessert!

Every year I look forward to our trip to a nearby apple orchard. I do love the apples, too, but what I’m most excited about are the peaches. I swear you’ll never see peaches this big and juicy anywhere else in the world!

For starters, I eat about a dozen of them before I even start thinking about what to make. I love homemade, canned peaches (with a secret recipe for a special spice mixture I got from my mother), but nothing beats a good, old-fashioned, double crust peach pie. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

I always make half a dozen pies to begin with, and bring them to my friends and neighbors. One of my favorite neighbor’s kids call me The Pie Lady – and I’m quite proud of that nickname! A slice of this pie is pure heaven on Earth, and if you add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side, I really can’t imagine anything better than that.

Don’t worry if you don’t have the time to make your own pie crust. You’ll do just fine with store-bought pastry!

Quick Tip: Instead of one big pie, you could use ramekins to make several smaller pies.

When It Comes To Breakfast, This Is The Holy Grail

Once upon a time, my husband and I wanted to have a tradition that would be our own for Christmas day.  We are all about traditions and making things our own.  We wanted to start something on our first Christmas that could last for years, well into our marriage and when we had kids.

And we found one thing that has worked well. French toast.  Peach French toast to be exact.  We found this perfect recipe that has a toasty edge and a gooey center.  It has fresh peaches over the top and it is drizzled with an amazing glaze.  It has become a tradition that we so look forward to.  We don’t make this at any other time of the year except Christmas day, because we want to keep it special.

However, this isn’t a particularly Christmassy dish, so you could definitely make this whenever you feel like having a fabulous breakfast or dessert! I’ve shared this recipe with my friends and family members, and they’ve all loved it. I heard my cousin is making this for her family once a week!

Quick Tip: If you can’t find fresh peaches to top this, you can use 2 small cans.  Just be sure to make it again when peaches are in season so you don’t miss out on it in it’s total glory!

cinnamon, cobbler crust, lemon juice, peach cobbler, peaches

This never has to be a seasonal dish.  If you can’t find fresh peaches, you can compromise.  The crust itself is so crispy and flaky, nothing can stop this juicy peachy dish!

This recipe serves 4-6 people and is ready in under an hour.  Serve with a scoup of fresh vanilla bean ice cream and a dollop of whipped cream.

Who knew the extent to which your crock pot could cook, bake, and make…the best of recipes!  This dish is crunchy, with sweet peaches and a dollop of velvety whipped cream.

Serve this dish with vanilla ice cream for the best flavor pairing. This dessert takes about 3 hours to slow cook, so have patience!  Once it’s done, then the fun, has truly begun!

A Sweet, Yummy, Dairy-Free Breakfast Item

This Dairy-Free Peachy French Toast is a lovely sweet treat that also (provided that you choose the right bread) manages to be entirely non-GMO, gluten-free, and lactose-free. It’s also baked instead of fried, making it lighter and lower on the hassle than most forms of french toast. This is properly a breakfast item, though I think it’s nice for a dessert most any time of day. It’s a great idea if someone in your family has to be on a restricted diet but still would like something sweet now and then.

Mix the peach slices with the sugar ahead of time, and you can slap this together in no time. Just be sure to flip the bread about halfway through the baking process, and you’ll have no trouble putting this together. Though I like this dessert as-is, if you want to give this recipe more of a peaches & cream flavor, while still keeping it dairy-free, add a bit of Silk vanilla yogurt to the topping at the end.

Well I know about the southern drawl but this cobbler has me doing the southern drool! If you just quickly take a look at that photo, I’m sure you understand. Now, I love me some pie crust in my peach cobbler but this shortbread cobbler recipe is a nice change of pace and it works really well together. What I like most about this recipe is the presentation. What I mean is that a normal cobbler looks like, well, a cobbler. But this dessert presents itself very nicely and you will be the star of your next potluck or tailgate.

Let us know how yours turns out and share with all your friends. Also, we would love you to post photos of the finished product! I wish I had a photo but the cobbler was gone before I could reach for my camera! So, the picture you see is a professional pic of the cobbler that someone else made. I guarantee that my cobbler didn’t turn out looking that pretty BUT it absolutely tasted like a miracle. I promise you, this is a scrumptious dessert that you simply must not miss out on 🙂
