“Crab” A Cake And Join The Party

For some funny reason I still don’t understand, I was a teenager the first time I ever tasted a crab cake.

I honestly don’t know why – maybe it was because my family is from Europe and I grew up eating all these traditional European recipes. Crab cakes were never on the menu and somehow I had missed them at all the parties, too. But ever since I had my first taste, they became a staple in our dinner rotation! When I got married and we moved into our own house, I made sure I was bringing this recipe with me.

This is a no-hassle, no-odd stuff, no-kidding recipe. What you see is what you get and that means lots of flavor from crab instead of common fillers that people tend to add to crab cake recipes. So, no potatoes in this one – just incredibly yummy aromas!

However, I definitely like to serve these with potatoes! It doesn’t really matter what kind; smashed, baked or just French fries. I often go for smashed potatoes because the flavors seem to complement each other so well.

Quick Tip: Chill the cakes for an hour before frying!

It isn’t often that I get to eat any type of shellfish as my youngest son is allergic. However, when he isn’t around, I devour things like shrimp and lobster while I have the chance! A few weeks ago, little man went and spent the night with the grandparents, so I cooked up this lovely shrimp and wild rice casserole for the rest of us sea lovers.

The combination of fresh shrimp, wild rice, and zesty seasonings just about makes your taste buds go a little insane. I’m telling you, this is one of the BEST shrimp casserole recipes that I’ve ever come across. I wish my little boy wasn’t allergic to shellfish so he could try it out for himself. He’ll stuff have to stick to hot dogs. Poor kid. So, will you be making this casserole tonight for supper?

baking powder, baking soda, BBQ, Bertolli extra-virgin olive oil, black pepper, Bob's Red Mill, celery, Clabber Girl, dill relish, domino sugar, Duke's mayo, eat, Eggland's Best eggs, food, Gold Medal flour, hard-boiled eggs, Johnsonville, kosher salt, Kraft, land o lakes butter, macaroni salad, McCormick spices, Morton salt, Old Bay seasoning, paprika, Parsley, picnic, recipe, sugar, sweet relish, TruMoo milk, Vlasic, Wesson vegetable oil

Macaroni salad is a staple picnic food that my has at almost every summer gathering. We don’t just make this salad; we craft this salad with a chef-like precision. Ok, so we like to think so, anyway. Haha!

This recipe for mac salad is the bees knees, and you wanna know why? Because there is tuna fish in it. Now, I know what you’re thinking, “not everyone likes tuna!” I totally get that. I, particularly don’t like tuna, but when it’s intermingled in the savory ingredients of this salad, it truly becomes the “chicken of the sea.” Tuna gives this traditional BBQ salad such an awesome kick of flavor and protein.

If you aren’t a tuna fan, I encourage you to at least give this macaroni salad recipe a try. I just might make a believer out of you, yet! I have a house full of picky eaters and they gobbled this up so fast, I knew within minutes I should have made a double batch!

Quick Tip: If you honest to goodness cannot stand tuna, replace it with canned chicken.

How To Get That Crispy Crust Without The Guilt Of Grease

Who doesn’t love fried chicken? Except for the fattening factor, no-one seems to like that! Well, now you can eat it without the guilt – this easy baked recipe has just as much crisp as the fried version. No need to worry about the calories! These are so much healthier – and just as tasty!

This is such a simple recipe and it’s very easy to alter it to your liking. If you like milder chicken, leave out the cayenne and use milder mustard. On the other hand, if you want your chicken to have more kick in it, add more chili and red pepper flakes!

This recipe makes about 8 servings and is ready in under an hour.  It’s the perfect way to enjoy the crunch of fried chicken, without all the fat.

I LOVE these, with all my heart and soul.

Those Maryland crab cakes are a classic seafood treat, sure to be a winner as a part of any meal.  These Panko Maryland Crab Cakes have a crust strong enough to hold everything together but light enough to let that delicious savory crabmeat flavor shine!  They pair nicely with the Quick & Easy Homemade Tartar Sauce. I happen to love crab cakes.  It’s really hard to go wrong with that great crab flavor for a good seafood dish, either as an appetizer or as part of the main meal.

Sadly, it is possible to mess up crabmeat; the most common mistake is to mix it with something that drowns out its great natural taste.  This simple recipe deftly avoids that and is also kind enough to provide a great-tasting tartar sauce–no need to settle for the store-bought tartar, when you can make some yourself so quickly and easily.
