I Never Thought Adding This One Ingredient Could Make This Salad So Amazing!

A good friend of mine thought it was weird that I was going to serve potato salad for Thanksgiving. In her opinion, potato salads were for summer parties and BBQ’s, not for Thanksgiving or Christmas. It’s funny; sometimes we are so used to doing things the way we’ve always done them, that we don’t even think about other options.

When I was young, potato salad was definitely a barbecue dish for us, too. But pretty soon after I got married and started a holiday tradition of my own, it became a Thanksgiving and Christmas side dish. I think it goes together perfectly with all the other holiday foods. Besides, everyone seems to love potato salad!

I haven’t always made the same exact recipe, though. But this one, from Melanie Cooks, has quickly become my favorite. There is one special ingredient I had never thought of adding – it made such a big difference!

How To Make A Scrumptious Meal Without Breaking The Bank

If you have a big get-together coming up and you know there will be plenty of hungry people around, this recipe is for you! Here’s a super easy way to feed the whole neighborhood – this chicken salad is not only delicious; it’s also very simple to put together and it’s easy on your wallet!

This chicken salad recipe from ReMarkable Home is one of my all-time favorites. You can make this salad a little lighter and sweeter by adding some grapes or chopped apples – or choosing low-fat ingredients, like explained on the next page. Don’t worry if you’re not planning for a party; you can make half a batch or even just 1/4, without a hassle.

I love serving this salad as a sandwich (I use either croissants or toast) but you could definitely serve it as a side dish, with almost any entree you can think of. I am dying to try this with cheesy scalloped potatoes – somehow I have a feeling that combination would completely tantalize my taste buds!

“Crab” A Cake And Join The Party

For some funny reason I still don’t understand, I was a teenager the first time I ever tasted a crab cake.

I honestly don’t know why – maybe it was because my family is from Europe and I grew up eating all these traditional European recipes. Crab cakes were never on the menu and somehow I had missed them at all the parties, too. But ever since I had my first taste, they became a staple in our dinner rotation! When I got married and we moved into our own house, I made sure I was bringing this recipe with me.

This is a no-hassle, no-odd stuff, no-kidding recipe. What you see is what you get and that means lots of flavor from crab instead of common fillers that people tend to add to crab cake recipes. So, no potatoes in this one – just incredibly yummy aromas!

However, I definitely like to serve these with potatoes! It doesn’t really matter what kind; smashed, baked or just French fries. I often go for smashed potatoes because the flavors seem to complement each other so well.

All hail the chocolate cake! As you can see, I’m quite a fan of the cocoa-laden baked treated. I love my chocolate cake moist, and I love it piled high with frosting. How do you prefer your chocolate cake? Perhaps you like to add a little mayonnaise to it. No, I’m not joking. Mayo makes chocolate cake super moist.

It might seem weird to you to put mayo in a chocolate cake, but don’t knock it until you try it, sister. It’s so good! I have to admit, the first time I read this recipe, I thought the author was crazy. You’re probably thinking the same thing about me right now. Just lock me up in the looney bin with my mayo-laced chocolate cake 🙂

Quick Tip: I think that Hellmann’s is the best mayo to use in this recipe. Do you have a favorite mayo brand?

brunch, canned chicken, cheddar cheese, chicken salad, chicken salad sandwich, croissant, domino sugar, dresing, dressing, grapes, great value, great value canned chicken, Hellman's mayonnaise, Hellmann's, Hellmann's mayo, Hidden Valley, Hidden Valley Ranch, Ken's dressing, Ken's steak house, Kraft, Kraft mayo, Kraft mayonnaise, lunch, lunch idea, mayo, mayonnaise, midday meal, Ranch Dressing, romaine, sandwich, sugar, Swanson, Swanson canned chicken, tomato, tyson, Tyson canned chicken, wal mart, Wish Bone, Wish Bone dressing

Are you still eating your chicken salad with *just* mayonnaise? It’s time to dress up the blandness and take this lunch staple to the next level.

Adding in juicy grapes give you a little pop of sweetness and using romaine lettuce prevents it from being overly mushy. Add in some other goodies like tomato, cheddar cheese, and a mixture of ranch with the mayonnaise for an extra boost of flavor. This recipe calls for using canned chicken, however feel free to use rotisserie chicken for a fresher alternative! Make this for a brunch get-together, or as an everyday midday meal – you’ll love it!
