Rumor Says This Cake Will Make You Slap Your Mama!

Tell me, when was the last time you had a slice of cake that made you think it was created by the dessert gods? You know the feeling; when you have a bite of something and it’s as if your taste buds just started playing a wonderful symphony.

This simple lemon loaf cake made me feel that way, and it took me by surprise. You know, because it doesn’t necessarily look like it’s the most delightful cake in the universe – but it sure tastes like it! I think it’s the freshly grated lemon zest that makes this super flavorful; or maybe it’s the cream.

I really don’t care what it is – all I care about is stuffing my face with as many pieces of this as I possibly can! You can, of course, add your favorite frosting or glaze, but this cake doesn’t necessarily need either of those. A dollop of whipped cream on top of a slice is enough to make your eyes roll to the back of your head! Serve this for dessert, Sunday breakfast or just an amazing pick-me-up after work.

I Call This The Holy Trinity Of Food Ingredients!

I kind of have this funny habit of turning everything into combinations of three. I don’t know where I got it from, but I remember doing it ever since I was a kid. I guess maybe it somehow helped me remember certain things, or maybe it’s just the fact that I like the number 3 so it was fun to incorporate it in everything I did. I guess it doesn’t make a lot of sense but let me try and explain!

For example, my favorite homemade skin scrub includes coconut oil, brown sugar and coffee crumbs. When I stop by a cafe I always order ice cream, coffee and water (leave any of these out and it just isn’t the same!) When I go to the library I always bring home 3 books; a detective story, an autobiography and a diy-something-guide.

Needless to say, I also love recipes that combine 3 main ingredients or flavors. In this case, lemon, chicken and spinach. Which is one of the reasons I immediately fell in love with this recipe. As soon as I saw this, I knew I was going to like it! And it didn’t disappoint!

Just Give Me A Spoon And I’ll Eat The Whole Thing!

I’ve never been to France. I’ve traveled quite a lot but somehow I’ve managed to go through all these years without even having a layover in this beautiful country of baguettes and croissants.

Ok, I admit it – that was quite a generalization. I know France is so much more than that, and I’m hoping some day I get to cruise the French countryside and see all the beautiful lavender fields, visit the vineyards and especially the apple orchards. And this is where we get to the good stuff!

My grandmother used to make the most amazing apple jam ever known to man, and fortunately she shared her secret with us. When she was young, there was a lady in town who had visited France. It was a big deal back then, when money was tight and traveling was considered such a luxury.

She had explained there was a special ingredient in French apple jam (which, according to an online translator is “Confiture de pomme” in French), and that’s cardamom! I had only heard of cinnamon apple jam so it was really exotic for me, and I’ve been making my apple jam this way ever since.

Quick Tip: You can remove the cardamom pods after making the jam but it’s not necessary.

This Tasty Salad Will Easily Feed A Crowd!

Whenever I’m throwing a party I always struggle trying to find a simple, inexpensive dish that will feed a large crowd.

I love all kinds of tiny appetizers, but I’ve noticed the ingredients can be on the expensive side. And quite often they are also pretty time consuming to put together. Lately I’ve started to turn more towards nice, festive salads and they have proven to be a hit every time. So that’s what I had in mind when I started searching for a new recipe for an upcoming get-together.

This Mexican-style pasta salad is a winner! It won’t brake the bank, and the recipe makes 16 servings (which is plenty, even if your guests are going for seconds – which they will…) This salad would also make a great lunch on its own, when served with some fresh baguette and garlic butter. Bring some Mexican flavors to your next party!

When it comes to trying new things, I’m sort of a stickler. I mean, let’s face it, we cook what works for our families, right? But, do you ever get tired of the same old meals each month? I know that I needed a recipe to get me out of this food slump I found myself in. That’s when I discovered Oven Roasted Chicken Shawarma. At first, I was intimidated because this type of food is totally restaurant quality, and although I’m a pretty good cook, I ain’t no chef, sister.

Much to my surprise, this recipe was super simple to make, and it tastes absolutely divine. When I plated up the food, the aroma alone was jumping off our plates. Needless to say, this chicken dish is a major hit in my household. I’ll definitely be making it again! Are you ready to whip up a batch of your own? Follow me…

There’s nothing that feels lighter, than a dessert that is hugged by citrus flavors. Because of its light nature, you can have this treat in the early morning for breakfast, or as an after dinner sweet note.

This recipe makes 2 loaves, so there is plenty to go around.  The loaves bake for about an hour, and it’s always good to refrigerate for at least an hour to set the glaze. Trust us, it’s worth the wait!
