Is This Your Grandmother’s Recipe?

I’m sure we all feel that our grandmothers are the best cooks and bakers the world has ever seen. There is something magical about their cooking, isn’t there? They hardly ever use any special ingredients, just the very everyday stuff you can always find in your pantry. Yet, they come up with the most amazing dishes, cakes and treats you could ever think of.

My grandma was just like that. She lived to be 97 and I know she saw some hard times, too, so that must have been one of the reasons why she learned to be very creative with her recipes. This cookie recipe instantly reminded me of her. She used to make cookies very similar to these, and the whole family loved them.

Six ingredients is all you need to make these and chances are, you probably already have these at hand. Some people consider these “holiday cookies” and I have to admit, I always make these during the holidays. However, these are so delicious they deserve to be enjoyed year ’round!

Tell a Story with these Traditional Tricorne Shaped Cookies

These adorable and delicious little cookies are traditionally made for the Jewish holiday of Purim. The story goes that the villain of the story, named Haman, wore a tricorne hat. However, the good news these delicious cookies don’t require you to be Jewish or have a holiday to make these cookies. These cookies are made with a brown butter dough flavored with vanilla beans. They’re filled with a hazelnut brown butter and apricot jam, then the dough is pinched up to form the tricorne shape. Bake them, sprinkle with powdered sugar and enjoy!

These little cookies are perfect for a little treat. They’re just big enough for a couple of bites, so they’re perfect to satisfy your sweet tooth. They’re such perfect little cookies that are great for get-togethers, snacks, holidays, parties or just as a regular dessert.

Have you been searching for a great cookie recipe that’ll wow you and your guests? Look no further because this is it! These white chocolate cranberry cookies would work particularly well for a holiday treat, though with that flavor, you could enjoy them most any time of year.

 

Believe it or not, I was not as familiar with the white chocolate cranberry flavor combination as I was with the white chocolate raspberry one, prior to baking some of these. I have to say, it works out nicely – richly sweet, with just the right amount of tartness from the cranberries to put everything in balance. The addition of cornstarch to the dough ensures that the cookies will remain soft, even the next day. And the use of dark brown sugar instead of light brown gives the flavor of the cookies that much more depth and ensures that they have a more chewy, less crispy texture.
