french onion soup

My Aunt Millie always ordered French onion soup when we went out to eat and now, I understand why.

Nothing brings a family together better than food. When I was a little girl my mom would often have family and friends over for Sunday dinner. These dinners were big and would remind someone of the holidays. Mom would always make a pot of her famous French onion soup. Everyone loved this soup. Even I, who hated onions, loved my mom’s french onion soup. Isn’t that wild?

To this day, I still enjoy chowing down on French onion soup which is why I’m sharing this delightful recipe with all of you.

Are you ready to get your hands on this amazing recipe? Wait no longer, my friend! Simply hop on over to the next page and let’s get cooking!

5 beef recipes salisbury steak

Do You Remember Enjoying This As A Kid? I Sure Do!

Did you know that the salisbury steak was invented by a 19th century physician, James Salisbury?

I didn’t either, but apparently he believed beef would solve many physical problems, and suggested this steak should be eaten three times a day. Of course, accompanied with plenty of water to cleanse the digestive system. I’m not as certain of the health benefits of this old-fashioned dish, but I do think it’s scrumptious!

I have to admit, though, that this recipe from Bobbi Meyer is pretty healthy (not to mention delicious!) If you’re using lean ground beef and making sure your ketchup is low-sugar, I guess you could have this even if you’re on a diet!

But that’s not why I decided to give Bobbi’s recipe a try. I made it because it looked really easy, super tasty, and because I think she’s pretty awesome, too! Have you seen all those recipes from her? She’s got plenty, and I intend to try them all, one at a time.

There is is the wonderful buffet-style restaurant in town that I absolutely love.

Normally, I stay away from buffets but I make an exception for this particular one because of one simple item that they always have set out…French onion soup. Wow! is it ever good! I figured, I really need to make this soup myself so that I can save some money and trips to the buffet. I don’t need to be going up any pant sizes, either. You are really going to like this easy recipe!

One of the things that I like the most about this soup is the cheese on top. Yum! It’s so stringy and delicious. The cheese complements the onion soup well. Doesn’t cheese complement everything well?

Now, I wish I could say that I got my children to eat this soup but I can’t. They are turned off by onions, however, I will say that my youngest at least tried it. Bless his little onion-hating heart 🙂

My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Rome and Paris.  Of both places, our favortite was by far Paris.  Not only was it the city of romance, but it was just full of beautiful sights and places to see.  But, to top it all off, as amazing as the food in Rome was, the food in Paris was just outstanding.  We tried so many different dishes.  They were so completely different than anything we had ever tried which made them absolutely amazing.

One of our favorites while we were there was French Onion Soup.  We knew we had to try French onion soup in France, and luckily, it was very cold while we were there (mid April), so we were able to truly enjoy it on multiple occasions.  We loved it so much that when we got back, we looked for places to enjoy this here in Miami. We were happy to find a place right by where we live, but boy do they over price that soup! So instead, now we make it at home with this awesome recipe from my Crock pot.  It is so simple and just as delicious as the Parisian one!

Enjoy a Delightful Dinner Without a Massive Clean-Up!

Did Christmas eat a hole through your pocket? If you’re anything like me, you probably spent way too much money on presents, good food and excellent wine.

Which was lovely, but now it’s going to take until March to get things back the way they used to be. For me that means trying to find ways to get my budget back on track – and most importantly, trying to find ways to fit into my jeans again.

This is a great example of simple, yet delicious meals that can help you out in these kind of situations. This lean meat and potato casserole is such a budget-friendly dish; it’ll only cost you a few bucks to make dinner for your whole family! And let’s not forget about the waistline… Since this casserole is made of low fat ingredients, it’s the perfect meal for anyone who wants to lose a pound or two.

6 hearty dinner recipes pork chops and rice casserole

Say Hello To My New Best Casserole Friend!

I am not even kidding when I say I hate chopping. Ok, some of it may have to do with the fact that I’m the laziest person on Earth to take care of my kitchen knifes…

They’re not exactly in the sharpest possible condition, if you know what I mean! But still, it’s usually the lack of time that makes me want to avoid recipes where there’s a lot of chopping involved. After a long and busy workday I would simply rather do something else.

That’s one of the reasons I fell in love with this pork chop and rice casserole recipe. No chopping whatsoever! It’s not the only reason, though. I love recipes that make use of the most inexpensive and simple ingredients and still turn out unbelievably tasty. My husband is crazy about this dish – he could eat this for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Come to think of it, so could I!

I am a sucker for french Onion soup. I absolutely love the stuff. Even as a little girl, when most kids would turn their noses up at onions, I’d happily be chowing it down. My mother always made the best French Onion soup. I loved the large crouton and melted mozzarella cheese that she’d place on top of my steaming bowl of oniony liquid. So good!

Surprisingly, French Onion soup isn’t at all hard to make. I always thought it was this fancy soup that only chefs in tall hats could manage to master, but nope. It’s super easy and you can make it in two shakes of a lamb’s tail.
