Christmas is the time for lots of baking.

Whether it be cakes, cookies, breads, truffles, pies, or anything else, everything is especially delicious during this time of year.  Now, my absolute favorite baked good during Christmas time is a good ole’ Christmas cookie.

Nothing beats the idea of a toasty, warm cookie with some milk, or maybe even hot chocolate to dip in.  It really gets me in the Christmas spirit. These cookies are perfect to make with children.

Just for reference, Sants devours them over at my house. 😉  Encourage your kids to make these for Santa this year.  He’s going to love them, and you’re going to love how easy they are!

Have you ever thought of doing something nice for someone, but you weren’t sure what?

I have so many good people in my life that sometimes I just want to pay it forward for no particular reason at all. There’s just this overwhelming sense that comes over me that makes me want to surprise someone with something nice. It’s such a good feeling to know that you made someone’s day better by doing something nice.

The only problem is – what do I do? I guess there are only a million things to do in this world so I have to narrow it down by personality. Even that can be a little iffy sometimes too. I know that a sure way to show someone you appreciate them is by giving them a sweet treat. I mean we do it every year on Valentine’s day and people are happy. Why not provoke that same feeling on a random day of the year!

My go-to gift is usually a baked goodie in a cute tin. I tend to love baking cookies so I go for that. Now this recipe is probably the most delicious cookie recipe that I have ever made.

I have never met someone that did not love this cookie. People usually get really excited when they see me come over with a cute tin because they know what is inside of it!

Cookies are the best treats to enjoy.  They are soft and chewy and perfect to take on the go.  My neighbor Anne loves to prepare different cookies for friends and family.

My neighbor Anne loves to prepare different cookies for friends and family.  Since I am her neighbor, I get the best part of that deal because I get to sample them all and keep the leftovers.  She has made so many different varieties, I am pretty sure I have tried the majority of cookie recipes out on Pinterest. The other day, Anne burst through my back door with a batch of cookies that I had never tried.  She had put together like three different batches of batter that she had leftover and made the best mash-up of a cookie that I have ever tried in my life!

The other day, Anne was organizing a little get together for all the neighbors. We were all so busy over the holidays that we did not have time to spend time together or have a Christmas party as we usually do, or at least ring in the New Year. Anne, being the social butterfly that she is, could not stand that it did not happen, so she organized some stuff to make sure it would happen. So, what was this event about? She called it an “after party.” She thought it was funny because it sounded like what the celebrities have, but it was just really called an after party because we had a party after all the other ones. It was a practical name, believe me.

Well, as usual, Anne went crazy over what to put on the menu. She tried assigning specific dishes to different people, but that did not seem to be working, so instead she created a document online and told everyone to write their name along with what they would be bringing. It was so easy, everyone signed up! And the one thing that caught my eye? Mrs. Smith’s Strawberry Cream Cheese White Chocolate cookies. Oh, yessss.

My dad cannot eat chocolate because of his arrhythmia. The caffeine in chocolate alters his heart in a way that can be very detrimental for him. He has even passed out because of eating a bit of chocolate. So, for that reason, we always try to look for recipes that cut back on the chocolate. Instead of making brownies for dessert, we make cheesecake. Instead of making chocolate chip cookies, we make sugar cookies. These little habits help my dad stay healthy and all of us as well.

I am a lover of cookies so I am always looking for a new and improved recipe that is different than the last I made. I love the classic chocolate chip cookie, but sometimes I just feel like enjoying a nice oatmeal cookie or raisin bran. I know, it is weird, but I get bored easily. I need to switch it up.

That is how I found this recipe that really helps me satisfy my cravings. It is a bit strange, very nutty and totally delicious! I know it is not everyone’s cup of tea, but I love all kinds of nuts, so this is a perfect cookie. Give it a try, whether you are a nut lover or not. You might find yourself becoming one!

Cookies, cookies cookies. My favorite treats. They are full of butter, (hopefully) chewy, have lots of toppings and melt in your mouth (again, hopefully). I will gladly keep any cookie nearby, whether they are chocolate chip, oatmeal, sugar or rum raisin. Anything goes, and I always have a baggy full when I head out to school or work.

These, though, are unlike any other kind of cookie I have tried. They are not just regular ol’ cookies to enjoy at any time of day. These are special and sweet. They are perfect for teatime, or to make for your daughter or granddaughter to have tea time with her dolls. My grandma used to make me these to enjoy with her in the afternoons at the table. They are special and sweet and have the perfect amount of tartness to them. These are truly a little delicacy that melt in your mouth once they touch your tongue. I have found these to go beautifully on a pink tray at a bridal shower or as a giveaway at a baby shower. They turn out so prettily, and with the amount of flavor in them, you are going to know what I mean when I say you have to take a seat to enjoy these.

If I asked you what your comfort food was, you would probably tell me the name of some kind of pasta or cookie. Because when we talk about what “comfort food” means, it’s literally something that calms you when you’re feeling angry and lights you up when you’re feeling down. Most of the time, these comfort food dishes are the classic recipes from the older generation, particularly a kind of pasta or a kind of dessert. Your parents or grandparents have probably made these meals to make you feel safe and loved.

My comfort food has always been oatmeal raisin cookies. You can make me do anything if you bake me a good batch of these treats. I am not too much of a fan of raisin. For me, they’re these annoying dried fruit that get stuck between your teeth. But oatmeal and raisin together are a good pair. And this recipe from All Recipes will remind you how good of a team these two ingredients are when it comes to making a perfect dessert that everyone will surely love.
