A Weeknight Meal Or A Special Occasion – You’ll Want To Have This Every Day Of The Week

Want to hear something funny? Until about two months ago, I had never even heard of cassoulet. If it doesn’t ring a bell for you, either, no need to worry. It’s only the best freakin’ meal ever! I am not kidding, it really is fabulous. I’m forever grateful to my friend for letting me know this awesome dish exists!

A cassoulet is a traditional French dish that contains beans and at least one kind of meat. You won’t be able to make it in 30 minutes, so if you’re looking for a super fast meal, you may want to save this recipe for later. But I guarantee; when you make this, it’s a meal you’ll never forget!

This recipe has quickly become my favorite. I’ve already made it twice; once for my family and another time for friends that were staying overnight. Everyone loved it!

The other day my daughter and I were trying to think of something yummy for dinner. Surprisingly, we decided on this yummy chicken leg recipe. I say surprisingly because typically when I bring a kid into the mix of dinner decision making I get requests for pizza, mac and cheese, and donuts. LOL However, my girl saw this recipe and thought it would be tasty and easy to make. it was both! So, we got the ingredients that we needed and got to work. I love it when my daughter helps me cook 🙂

We ended up making mashed potatoes, green beans, and a frozen apple pie with these chicken legs. The savory sauce worked as a gravy for the mashed potatoes. My husband and boys really enjoyed eating this meal, too. My boys always enjoy eating chicken legs because they are easy to handle. Will you be making these baked chicken legs for your family? Let me know in the comments how they turn out. I always enjoy hearing from you guys.

My husband is begging me to make these twice a week.

This Buttermilk Fried Chicken is a classically Southern twist on the usual American fried chicken recipe.  It makes for a great main course for lunch or dinner at home, but with the right sides, it also makes for great picnic and tailgate food. My great-grandmother in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, made some fabulous buttermilk fried chicken.  Alas, she closely guarded all of her best recipes (to the point, in some cases, of going to different grocery stores for different groups of ingredients, so no one person working there would have the full list of ingredients) and would only share them with fellow culinary artists who were very close to her.

Unfortunately, she passed away before I properly got into cooking.  I can’t say for sure that it’s an exact match (time blurs certain details and enhances others), but this buttermilk fried chicken does come close to her old recipe, at the very least, and I assure you that it is quite delicious.

I mean, all you can do is make this recipe for yourself and sample it. I guarantee you won’t be sorry! Grandma certainly knew what she was doing in the kitchen and her recipes prove this sentiment time and time again. Enjoy!
