Let me be perfectly honest with you; I am a recipe freak. I mean that in the most positive way! I love collecting all kinds of recipes and I’m always ready to try something completely new and modern.
But there is a part of me that can never let go of those old staples – you know, the ones that have been around since you were a child. Occasionally I tweaks these old family favorites a little, just to see if they will turn up even more delicious with a modern twist.
And sometimes they do! I’ve come up with the most brilliant meals just by throwing in some new flavors, respecting the original recipe. But there are some recipes that you really should leave alone. This bread pudding is one of them! It is so perfect just the way it is that I don’t dare try tweaking it the slightest bit.
This is a recipe I found years ago, when my mother and I were trying to recreate grandma’s bread pudding. Sadly, we lost her original recipe when she passed, but this one is as close to it as it gets!
