Chocolate, McCormick spices, Philadelphia cream cheese, vanilla extract

What good is a chocolate brownie without velvety cream cheese swirled into the mix? Not very! Add a kick to your typical brownie recipe that is sure to leave your family licking their fingers. Zippy cream cheese, hints of vanilla, and just the right amount of chocolate make these brownies a hit at any party. However, we like to keep them for ourselves instead of sharing.

These brownies are so incredibly simple to make! All you need is a box of brownie mix, we like Betty Crocker™ Original Supreme Premium, and a little love to get these morsels of fudgy goodness going. The toughest part is waiting for the brownies to finish baking as your nose is enchanted by the sweet smells of chocolate chips, sugar, and cream cheese wafting through your home.

If you like simple, lightly textured cakes, and you like the zest of lemon, you’ll love this Iced Lemon Pound Cake.  It bakes in about an hour, fills two 9 X 5 loaf pans, and makes about 24 slices.

Most people go to Starbucks exclusively for the coffee, but they have some nice dessert treats, as well. One of their more popular dessert items is the iced lemon pound cake. As it turns out, it is rather easy to make this treat for yourself at home.

This Simple Banana Pudding Cake bakes in about 45 minutes, with just a few easy steps to prep it before baking. Don’t let the simplicity of this cake or its two-ingredient icing fool you, however. This cake is loaded with rich, sweet flavor, and it’s incredibly moist!  It’s a dessert that’s easy enough to make whenever you feel like a little treat for yourself or your family, and yet it will be a big hit at most any gathering.

This recipe makes good, creative use of a few basic ingredients!  The use of olive oil instead of the usual vegetable or canola oil adds a bit of extra depth to the flavor without weighing the cake down too much. You can actually eat this cake even without the simple icing and have a very nice dessert, but it really is about the perfect topping for it. Enjoy!

For as simple as it is, this Chocolate Italian Love Cake has a lot of complexity to it. And if you like chocolate, you’ll absolutely, well, love it. Love has many layers. Sometimes, it is light and airy; other times, it is a bit darker and more heavy.  It also shifts over time.  In that respect, you could say that this yummy love cake is a good metaphor for its namesake.  And you can have it prepped and baked in a little over an hour without too much hassle – unless you consider waiting on such deliciousness to set in the refrigerator a hassle, I suppose.

Yes, the layers actually shift during baking.  Nice trick, eh?  I really like the contrast of the chocolate flavor with the lighter ricotta and the basic but very flavorful Cool Whip frosting. And though it’s very much edible after a few hours’ refrigeration, I think that you will agree that it tastes better if you give it the full overnight chill time.  Oh, and great though this chocolate creation idea is, you can use this same basic idea for a variety of flavors; just adjust the flavor of the pudding you use in the frosting to fit the flavor cake that you decide to choose.

You don’t have to put together everything from scratch to have a tasty and original dessert!  This Orange Creamsicle Cake recipe cleverly combines a couple of mixes with a few basic ingredients to recreate that classic childhood frozen treat in cake form. This is such a delicious dessert that your whole family will enjoy!

I have always been a bit of an experimenter in the kitchen.  Particularly when I’ve let myself get in a bit of a food rut, I enjoy putting together a few “same-old, same-old” ingredients to see if the combination gives me something tasty and exciting.  So this sort of recipe is just down my alley.  It didn’t hurt, either, that I loved those orange creamsicles so much as a kid.
