I Never Thought Adding This One Ingredient Could Make This Salad So Amazing!

A good friend of mine thought it was weird that I was going to serve potato salad for Thanksgiving. In her opinion, potato salads were for summer parties and BBQ’s, not for Thanksgiving or Christmas. It’s funny; sometimes we are so used to doing things the way we’ve always done them, that we don’t even think about other options.

When I was young, potato salad was definitely a barbecue dish for us, too. But pretty soon after I got married and started a holiday tradition of my own, it became a Thanksgiving and Christmas side dish. I think it goes together perfectly with all the other holiday foods. Besides, everyone seems to love potato salad!

I haven’t always made the same exact recipe, though. But this one, from Melanie Cooks, has quickly become my favorite. There is one special ingredient I had never thought of adding – it made such a big difference!

Would You Pick One Or Make a Combination Of All 3 Of Them?

It’s always the same thing for me when it comes to holiday meals.

I start planning really early, to make sure there is no last minute panic. But then I simply find way too many great recipes and I start rethinking my choices. After about 3 weeks of hopping back and forth between ten different recipes, my husband picks one for me. I know, it’s sad!

But this year I don’t have to rethink anything. This sweet potato casserole recipe that I found on Recipes For Our Daily Bread is brilliant. Basically, you get an awesome sweet potato casserole with three topping options in one! We all have that favorite topping we like better than others, so now you can make something for everyone.

I actually can’t believe I hadn’t thought of this myself. This is great for anyone like me, who are having a hard time deciding what to serve at Christmas dinner!

Tangy and sweet this mandarin orange cheesecake can’t be beat!

This orange cheesecake is amazing! The first time I heard about this, I was a bit skeptical. I never tried making a cheesecake recipe with orange as an ingredient. I have tried lemon cheesecake once. And while my family loves it, it’s not something that I will make everyday. Blueberry cheesecake is our usual cheesecake recipe.

And the sweet taste of the blueberries just compliments the cheesecake well. I have a bit of a problem with oranges.

Unlike lemons, oranges have that tangy sweetness that tastes weird for me sometimes. It’s as if it can’t decide whether it will be sweet or it will be tangy. This orange cheesecake gives the use of oranges, justice. They just taste so well in this cheesecake!

My family adores this orange cheesecake recipe. I can’t blame them for wanting another slice after the first one.

A cake that is perfect for all occasions.

Make way for this apple meringue cake! It’s a simple dessert that will have everyone going for another slice. Or at least trying to. Meringue is an acquired taste. A few of my cousins and even my brother are not too fond of meringue. They don’t like the texture. You can see the proof in our reunions. Whenever a meringue cake is served, it’s a guarantee that there will be leftovers after the gathering. My family loves meringue, which is why meringue cakes are a constant in our family.

Lemon meringue cake is a favorite. My husband finishes half of the cake before I can have the heart to stop him. He looks so happy every single time! My twins love the meringue itself. They always eat the topmost first.

This apple meringue cake is an instant winner in our family. The moist cake along with the meringue top is a guaranteed best seller!

I love serving this, not for dinner, but for our afternoon snacks. My husband and I will pair this off with freshly brewed tea while our sons will eat this with lemonade.

Quick Tip: You can try this recipe with other fruits depending on the season. Berries work great, apricots and peaches bring a wonderful flavor. As fall comes plums, apples and pears make a perfect choice too.

Make this cake on a first date and watch the sparks of LOVE fly 🙂

This Oreo ice cream cake is the solution to all the problems of the world! Okay, I sound like someone who will be fighting off aliens to banish them from earth. Well, if we are talking about those cute little boys and girls running around me all the time during reunions, well, I must say they’re really aliens. Cute ones at that.

A few of my little nephews are at that age wherein they think they can be Power Rangers or a Jedi. They are starting to influence my twins who keep requesting the Star Wars masks at the toy store. While it doesn’t matter with me, I wish for my twins to get their letters from Hogwarts at the age of 11. Okay, I’m sorry. I strayed away from the topic. When these kids team up, no adults will ever win. Which is why my cousin found the perfect solution for this: Oreo ice cream cake!

You will love this Oreo ice cream cake! Not only because they taste heavenly, but also because they literally make the kids behave. During that reunion, my cousin made this to settle the kids down. She only said, “Oreo ice cream cake” and everyone behaved like little angels! Well, those are magic words for kids: Oreo and ice cream.

I managed to look after the lot of them while my cousin made her concoction in the kitchen. It didn’t take her long! Just took about a few minutes. It’s the freezing that took a bit long, but it was enough to keep the kids behave until dinner. It was all worth it!

A scandalously delicious cake!

When I first tasted this, it was in the comforts of the kitchen of one of my friends. Whenever I have the time, I go to one of my friends’ houses that is just nearby. I bring my twins so they can get out of the house and play with other kids their age. Most of the time, I go to Vanessa’s house since she is a full-time housewife. Her two kids, one boy and one girl, are her only responsibilities for the whole day, which is why she all has the time in the kitchen.

Okay, I confess. Other than wanting to see my friend and have my kids play with her kids, I want to taste a new creation of hers. Well, to be fair with me, she loves to use me as her food tester!

This Watergate cake is something new to me. So when she told me about it, I immediately asked her, “Was it named after that… you know…” And she just laughed. Vanessa told me she didn’t know. She got this recipe online and wanted to try it because it looked really delicious. So while I was telling her about my days at home, my kids, and my husband, she was baking what’s soon-to-be-known as one of the best cakes ever!

Six of us enjoyed an afternoon of fun with this amazing Watergate cake, which the kids truly adored. I asked her about the recipe and she led to this site. I am sharing with you a copy of the list of ingredients and instructions on the next page. Enjoy!

chocolate fudge cake, Moist Chocolate Cake With A Chocolate Pudding Middle

This cake will make you sigh and swoon.

A couple of nights ago, while I was watching a series with my husband at the living room, I received a call from one of my friends. I knew from the sound of her voice that she’s having problems. I stayed on the phone with her until she felt better. The next morning, I made her a cake.

Since she lived just a few minutes away from our house, I brought the cake to her. It was a hot fudge pudding cake which recipe I have gotten from Facebook. The pudding cake was so full of chocolaty goodness that anyone would be too busy drowning in chocolates so the problem would be forgotten.

It made my friend feel better! She was smiling by the end of the first serving. I didn’t doubt that she would be fully smiling after finishing the entire dish!
