Grandpa’s goulash recipe was always my favorite. He didn’t know how to make many different things in the kitchen, but he knew how to make goulash. Whenever Grandma had to be gone for the evening and we were there, it was pretty much a guarantee that we were going to eat his famous dish. That was okay with me though, because I always loved it. My brother and sister often skipped on the goulash and went for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and I always told them that they didn’t know what they were missing. When they got a little bit older, they got braver, and they too started eating the goulash. I sat back and wished I hadn’t talked them into trying it. Now what used to be my leftovers are all eaten up before we leave the table.

After Grandpa passed, I realized that I never learned how to cook his most loved dish. I asked Grandma, but she didn’t have the recipe. Thankfully, a cousin was smart enough to cook with him and she had it memorized. It was just like this recipe from Group Recipes.

Now, I make this a few times a year at least for me and my family. It’s one of those meals that reminds you of your childhood. It’s so delicious and comforting, I could eat it almost every day!

It seems like at least once a week, we are so busy at home with everything that has to be done, there isn’t even enough time to sit down, much less time to make a homemade dinner that we can eat. After work, the time just flies by and before we know it it’s time for bed. Then, we are sitting in the dinning room eating a meal way later than what anyone should be. It’s terrible to have a dinner and then go right to bed. Your body hates it you for it. So, for my birthday, I asked my husband to get me a crock pot. I had never had one, but all my friends were always talking about how simple they were when it came to those extra busy days. My husband is all for me cooking anything, so of course he got me what I had asked for. As soon as I opened the box, I started researching what kinds of foods I could cook in it.

When I stumbled upon this recipe on Group Recipes for beef stroganoff casserole, I figured I would make it my first recipe. I didn’t think there was much you could do to mess that kind of a meal up, so it would be my experiment.

My husband couldn’t stop eating this when it was done. I had a few helpings myself, even though I’m on a diet… oops! It’s so good though. I think it’s safe to say… irresistible!

What I love most during family reunions is waking up the next morning to a delicious homemade breakfast cooked by one of my aunts. I am used to Mom’s breakfasts, and I often get to eat it whenever I visit her and Dad. So it’s always a pleasure to be able to taste one of my aunts’ meals. During one of our reunions, I was able to taste Aunt Marge’s artichoke and chicken bake. The night before, we were a bit restless because we were so excited about the next day’s reunion and all of its festivities and fun.

So the next morning, we were all a tad tired. None of us were even smiling as we woke up. We mostly greeted the people with grunts. It was worse for my cousins who were already parents.

They needed to at least try and be happy when they greeted their children. However, after tasting the breakfast Aunt Marge prepared for all of us, smiles started appearing until all of us were wearing a full blown perma-grin on our mugs.

Yes! It’what truly good food can do to you! And yes, we tend to eat dinner casseroles for breakfast at these events. why? We like to be rebellious haha!

The Tastiest Fish You’ll Ever Try

I came home one day, extremely tired and experiencing a migraine headache at the same time. My day was a bit hectic. I had to meet with three clients who lived in different parts of the city and they were all a bit demanding with regards to the timelines of their projects. The thing that’s most stressful to balance was time, so that day, I was truly drained off my energy. When I came home, my husband immediately knew I was in dire need of food and rest. So while I took a bath, I could hear him rummaging through the kitchen with something that he would feed me. It took me a while to come out because I was truly too tired to move around fast.

When I came to the kitchen, he was serving me this most aromatic tuna steak. He told me that it’s a bit spicy, but that it will surely make me feel more alive! Oh my goodness. With the first bite, I was already praising him. It was truly yummy!

It was truly a delicious meal. It did its work though because I was able to watch a movie with him that night and I was able to relax a bit before I finally went to sleep. The night turned out a bit better indeed.

Hands Down!

Hey, everyone! Today, we are making hamburger soup in the slow cooker. Now, I know we are in the middle of spring and heading towards summer but if you are living in Pennsylvania, you’ll realize why soup is still coveted around these parts. Spring has been a little cold here. Actually, I think spring has been a little cold for many of the 50 states. How about your neck of the woods? Has spring peeked out at you yet with its gorgeous sunny rays of warmth? If not, make this healthy hamburger soup!

What I like most about this hamburger soup is that it is a bit healthier than traditional recipes. For instance, instead of using white potatoes the recipe calls for rutabaga. Now, if you’ve ever used rutabaga in place of potatoes before then you’ll know that their presence is much like those little white spuds that we all know and love.

Instead of shoveling starchy, carby white taters into your gullet you’ll be getting all the goodness of rutabaga, an amazing root vegetable. Enjoy!

I don’t know about you guys and gals but I am always on the lookout for amazing desserts to serve to my family and friends. Anyone can knock together a casserole or bake up a chicken but it takes a real chef in the kitchen to make a wonderful dessert. Okay, it really doesn’t but I just felt like being dramatic. LOL These Twix cheesecake bars take minimal effort to make and they only include 7 ingredients. Plus, you get to use boxed brownie mix, how easy is that?! For those of you don’t like using boxed brownie mixes, please, by all means, use your own recipe.

Graduation season is coming up and with it comes lots of parties and picnics. Around here, people often bring dishes to pass at these parties, especially for family. I am definitely bringing a pan of these yummy cheesecake bars.

I mean, who doesn’t love Twix candy bars and cheesecake? when you pair the two of them together you’ve got an amazing bar recipe! My mouth is just watering over here as I think about them. Enjoy!

Hello, everyone! I hope this post finds you all happy, healthy, and well. So, the other day, my middle son turned fifteen. I cannot believe I am the mother of two teenagers and my “baby” is currently finishing up his last year of elementary school. I will no longer have any more kids in elementary school! I simply cannot believe it. Where does the time go? Anyway, my son had a few guys over for his birthday and wanted both pizza and lasagna, but he couldn’t decide which one.

So, I did what any good mom does and found a recipe that combines them both! Now, I’ll be honest, in my search for such a recipe I didn’t think I’d find one that was suitable, but low and behold, I did!

Before serving this pepperoni pizza lasagna to my kids and their friends I taste tested it on myself and neighbor, Sally, first. I made a 1/4 batch and we had it for lunch. Yum! That’s all I can say is, “Yum!”
