Have you ever thought; “I wish there was a dessert I could throw together in two minutes!” I know I have – that’s why I was so excited when I came across this recipe. I can’t believe I hadn’t thought of something so simple and delicious before! It makes complete sense now that I’ve tried it – duh! Of course it does! How could anything go wrong with ingredients such as condensed milk, pie filling and mini marshmallows! I’m telling you, it can’t!

That lovely color in the picture comes from the cherry pie filling, but if you’re not a fan of cherry – no problem! You can simply choose your favorite pie filling for this one, or even use homemade, if you want to make things from scratch.

For me, this recipe is perfect because it’s quick and easy, and most of the time I have all the ingredients at hand. I’ve made this several times when I’ve received that surprise phone call; “We’re in town and we’ll be at your house in an hour!”

Jean Mitchell, why can’t you? Mostly canned items and the Cool Whip is in the freezer. Easy

Actually, I always have those ingredients on hand..in our house, they are staples. The only substitution I make is, that I make my own whipped cream. I don’t use cool whip.

I have made this recipe for years, but I don’t use the marshmallows. I also use strawberry pie filling most of the time because that’s my favorite.

I actually have all these ingredients on hand except the mini-marshmallows and someone else said she doesn’t use them so it sounds like they could be optional.

IF YOU DO USE A DIFFERENT PIE FILLING, WHAT DO. SAY I USE STRAWBERRY PIE FILLING WHAT WOULD I USE WITH IT?? WOULD I STILL USE PINEAPPLE IN IT??

    • jessicafaidley June 9, 2017 at 12:56 pm Reply

Pineapple and strawberry go well together so, sure 🙂

I’ve made this twice now. It’s a good “treat” at the end of a meal or on a picnic. A ton of variations available, just think outside the box. I’m thinking about mandarin oranges and just thickening the juice to resemble the thickness of pie filling. Who knows??

I’ve also got a really quick and easy dessert recipe.
1 box of Instant Vanilla pudding (5.1 oz.)
32 oz. Container of Vanilla flavored yogurt
1 container 8 oz. Cool Whip
1 bag (12 oz) frozen raspberries

If you are going to serve it the same day, take the raspberries out and thaw them for 1/2- 1 hour before making.
First take the vanilla pudding powder and mix it in the yogurt. Add the Cool Whip with he yogurt mixture. Add raspberries and stir all together.
    Serve.

I took this for a potluck and came home with a clean bowl!

I loved this dessert, but since becoming diabetic, and having to watch my carb intake, I had to come up with a safe version.. One tube if cool whip, one box sugar free jello (any flavor ) , and one cup of diced fresh fruit. Sometimes I add crushed nuts. This can also be made with sugar free instant pudding instead of jello. Additional ingredients depend on the carb count,

I am diabetic and a recipe that hubby and I really enjoy is all using sugar free items. Bring 1 cup of water to boil, put in 7X11 dish, and whisk in a box of sugar free strawberry jello until dissolved and then whisk in 1/2 cup cold water. Chill for 20 minutes. Whisk in 1 box of sugar free instant vanilla pudding until it starts to thicken. Fold in (stir and fold actually) one container of sugar free Cool Whip and then fold in fresh cut up strawberries. Chill 30 minutes. I have also used sugar free raspberry jello and fresh raspberries, sugar free orange jello and large can of no sugar added well drained mandarin oranges. I have also used berry blue jello (it is not sugar free, or at least I haven’t found any that is) and fresh blue berries. Just make any combo you chose. Another recipe–place a canof no sugar added apple or cherry pie filling in an 8×8 pan (I do use a 7X11) and put 1/2 box of sugar free yellow cake mix over it (Pilsbury). Melt 1/2 stick butter (a little more if you chos the bigger dish), pour it over the dry cake mix, sprinkle with pecanor walnuts and bake about 35-40 minu Hubby is not diabetic, but loves these desserts.

Wondered if you could use jello and fruit since pie filling is so sweet

I have always left out the marshmallows and coconut.

This is something I make at home all the time! It’s basically my family’s recipe…..Instead of the condensed milk I use creme de coconut……no nuts no coconut shavings…….drain the pineapple……instead of marshmellows cream cheese……and I use nothing but cherry pie filling and yes cool whip and my family goes nutz!!!!!!

I have used a similar recipe for about 40 years. Mine doesn’t have coconut or marshmallows in it. I keep all the ingredients on hand all the time. Then when I need to make a dish for a bereaved family, I just whip it up or if I forget an upcoming potluck dinner until the night before,I’m covered. My husband usually makes this one.
