Check out what our friends over at Saveur had to say about this taste bud tantalizing patty melt recipe:
“Some say that the patty melt — a griddled sandwich of ground beef, caramelized onions, cheese, and rye bread — isn’t technically a burger because it has no bun. We love it just the same.”
We at TASTEE Recipe couldn’t agree more! Who needs a boring old bun when you can have pan-fried buttery bread?
1 1⁄2 lb. ground beef
Morton Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
5 tbsp. Wesson canola oil
2 yellow onions, halved and thinly sliced
12 slices Pepperidge Farm rye bread
12 thin slices Kraft Cheddar, Swiss, or American cheese
8 tbsp. Land O Lakes unsalted butter, softened
Quick Tip: For extra zip, add a spoonful of Thousand Island dressing to this sandwich.
Thank you to Saveur for this fabulous recipe.
