Boston Cream Pie with it’s delicious layers of yellow sponge cake with that lightly sweet cream between, and chocolate ganache topping is by far a favorite in my household. In fact, it was my parent’s wedding cake! So it’s been a mainstay since my youth. I never understood why it was called a pie when it’s clearly a cake, but does that really matter?
In the old days, Boston Cream Pie (even though it was a cake) was called a pie because it was made in pie tins. That’s essentially all they had. Now you don’t have to wonder anymore! I actually looked it up so I could teach my kids and myself why on earth this cake is called pie. I know one thing; I call it delicious!
